the box states "if seal is broken the product is unsaleable" does that mean if I open these and they don't work as I want I can't return them?

I have the same issue - they are 17 1/4 inches, and I need them to be 19 inches, which the title implies is possible. Did you ever figure out how to get the longer than 17 1/4? Or did you return them?
