Not so great for weighing squirmy snakes...
I purchased this scale to keep track of my ball python's weight. He has a habit of refusing food between October through December, so a scale would allow me to monitor weight loss and make sure he's staying within a healthy range. Unfortunately, this scale is kind of a pain to work with. It occasionally reads totally random weights (with nothing on it) when I first turn it on, which seems to go away if I press the tare button. The screen itself is difficult to read when using a bowl to weigh things because it is not back-lit, although this is something I knew when I ordered the scale along with the annoyingly fast auto-shut off feature. It seems to be pretty accurate as long as you make sure that it's at zero before weighing something, I have tested out the weights of different coins and they've come up with correct measurements. This scale will probably work perfectly for most people, but for me, the combination of the screen being impractical to read with a bowl on the scale, a squirmy snake not wanting to hold still on such a small scale, and dealing with the shut off feature while trying to read the measurements and keep the snake calm make this product not-so-fun to use. I will be keeping it regardless, as far as scales go this is a nice, accurate one for the price. If you're planning on weighing animals though, I'd definitely suggest looking for something a bit larger with a back-lit screen.

Seems to work, but shipped with a low battery
I've had this for about a week now and had reason to use it on a few occasions. The scale seemed to work pretty well but I'm now having issues where the measurements vary, and the unit is giving a "Lo" message before shutting off. So I guess after using it for 3-4 days I already have to replace the battery. Hopefully that's the only issue and this isn't indicative of high power consumption or other problems. On the list of advantages, I think the simple white looks cleaner than some of the black or aluminum options out there. The price seems to fluctuate, but at <$10 this seemed like a good value. There's nothing amazing about the scale though, so if it went above $15 then I'd look elsewhere. It's a small scale which makes it easy to store but full-size plates will block the display. Expect to use small containers or side plates when weighing your ingredients. Two Month Update: After replacing the battery we haven't had any other issues. I like the scale and would recommend it if the price remains low. It's easy to use, and I revise my rating to 4/5 stars. Had it shipped with a proper battery it'd be 5/5

Works well, compact size, great value... I like it!
Got this to replace my VERY old (but reliable) kitchen scale that read only in pounds/ounces (no grams) and max weight of 4.5#. And my tiny gram scale (1000g max). I've got a European friend staying with me who loves to cook and bake. When she's baking, almost every ingredient gets weighed, not measured by volume. (I'm now a convert... it IS better that way.) So far, I'm totally pleased with this scale. (and so is she.) Seems accurate, it's easy to use. Max weight of 11# is useful. Nice looking, and the size is trim and compact, so it's easy to store. Some might complain that the read-out can be obscured by a bowl or envelope that's more than 6" diameter. The easy remedy to that problem is to use a small riser, such as a ramekin or coffee cup, and tare it. Optionally, you can get a scale that's much thicker where the read-out faces front instead of up. Or get one of the scales where the display module actually pulls out of the main unit.So far, I'm really liking this scale for kitchen use and weighing small packages for the mail. For the price of $12, it's an excellent value. Highly recommended!

awesome scale for an awesome price !!
So this 11 lb range limit implies that this scale is for 0-5000 grams. Obviously if you are trying to measure 5 grams, it may waver from 4-6 grams, but that's not the intended measurement range. +/- 1 g for an item that is 1000 g (or 2.2 lbs) I'd have to say is extremely precise, and an awesome deal (I got mine for a little over nine bucks shipped with two day prime) and all I had to do is open my front door 2 days later (even on a Sunday !!). Besides for being a kitchen scale, how many times have you wondered how heavy something is to mail? This will tell you the weight of that postcard all the way up to a small 11 lb package. bought a buncha these for xmas gifts so when my friends weigh something in the kitchen, they might remember that I gave them something extremely useful! Get it, more than worth it - cheaper than a lunch sitdown service meal.

Was just inconsistent, now gone full out haywire.
I used this scale daily for 7 months to measure out food for my dog (she's overweight and on a strict diet). All of a sudden it just went haywire and I really can't use or trust it anymore. While I'm weighing the food it will suddenly drop to zero or some other random amount that is lower than what is actually on the scale (without being touched or bumped at all). It also will suddenly and frantically switch between measurements (grams, mls, etc.) and it is near impossible to turn it off manually or automatically (auto shutoff doesn't always turn it off no matter how much time passes). It hasn't been near liquids so not sure the cause of all this, but I basically have to eyeball the food being weighed until I can replace this scale. Also as others have mentioned, even when it was working properly I found it to be a bit inconsistent even in measuring the exact same item. I could weigh a bowl of food, take it off the scale, and immediately put the same bowl of food back on the scale and read a slightly different weight.I like that it is sleek looking and slim so that it doesn't take up much space on the counter, however it's size can be a disadvantage as often times the bowl I'm using to weigh the food covers the display making it very difficult to read the measured weight. It was priced well, but you get what you pay for... I will not be purchasing another scale from this company again.

Great little scale
I like this scale. Only reason it gets a 4 out of 5 is that the TARE button needs to be pushed more than once to clear the display. It is stable and I like that you can change units all on the front side. Another scale I have you have to hit a button on the back. This is a lot more convenient when measuring liquid in fl. oz. and then adding a protein powder in grams.
