Timely views on the exciting future of 3D printing
A discussion on the future of 3D printing is always an exciting read. I am a patent owner in the field of mass customization using 3D printing and enjoyed the vision communicated in the book. The biggest benefit is that the book causes the reader to visualize a future where 3D printing is more developed. I personally took the views portrayed in the book and added my own twist based on what I felt may come out of this powerful technology. If you are an innovator you will find the book timely even today because the industry will take decades to develop and many of the ideas discussed in the book are still valid today. I may re-read it next year just to refresh my innovative thinking on the subject matter. Also, getting a perspective from an intellectual property attorney focused on the subject matter gives an interesting view that isn't always heard.

Great Read; Clear Vision of the Future
3D printing is changing literally everything. In this exciting and visionary work, Mr. Hornick reveals to the reader the truth of that statement. Exploring the uses of 3D printing in aerospace, medicine, art, education and manufacturing of all types, he explores its impacts (both current and potential) on the economy, the environment, geopolitics and transportation to name only a few. In this eminently readable book, Hornick takes us on a tour of this industry describing 3D printed cars, rocket engines, hip implants, prosthetics, commercial aircraft components, dinosaur bones, and human organ tissue, all in use today. He then presents a possible vision of the future through the use of an entertaining parable that clearly examines the potential power along with the challenges that are attendant to this most disruptive technology. This is not just a one-sided “rose-colored glasses” view. In this balanced vision, Hornick takes an unflinching look at the potential pitfalls and challenges that will surely arise as the use of 3D printing continues to grow. Issues regarding intellectual property, product liability, government regulation, and dramatic dislocation to established industry and the workforce are all discussed. This book is a “must read” for any looking to understand the sweeping technological advancements on the very near horizon.

Rocking just like nature has been doing
This is disruptive because it allows us to mimic natural evolution in a very fast pace. Remember that nature created life. After 3.8 billion years of incredible slow + trouble some evolution, we are able to do something similar but not very complex yet. YET (this book highlights). It is amusing that things with optimal structure look like "grown" rather than built! Hold on, because half of this book also deals with the legal challenges around intellectual property laws. As you can see, we humans can create very boring things as well.

A Down To Earth and Into Space Analysis of 3D print
Mr. Hornick's book is a "boots on the ground" analysis of what's happening now globally with an insightful look into what a 3D printed world will look like in the near and not too distant future. If you are involved in any field of product creation, design, development, or marketing this book is a must read. Very few technologies come along in a lifetime that have such far reaching effects as 3D print and John's analysis presents a future that will impact every aspect of life in all corners of the world and into space. The only area not covered in the book is the imagination it will spark in the mind of the reader who is presented with an enormous world of possibility. Read "3D Print Will Rock The World" and start planning how your contribution to the future will take shape.

Comprehensive and accessible
My perspective is as a patent attorney who does work for 3D printing clients, someone who has been to 3D printing tradeshows and has a 3D printer. This is the book I recommend to colleagues or others who want to get up to speed on 3D printing quickly, both in terms of basic technology as well as societal / legal implications. This is a well-researched book with numerous examples and proper citations to reference material. However, it is clear that the author is passionate about the topic and that helps makes the book very accessible.

I love the book
I love the book! it is so clear for non English speakers. Ideas have clear order and it is easy to follow up.The content reveals the enthusiasm that Mr Hornick reserves for 3D printing, it opens our brain horizons to great potentials that 3D printing has in several sectors and discusses controversial - yet interesting- ideas and concepts. This is a must read book for people in the business world interested in the business side of 3D printing. It it the type of book that when you finish one page, you wish that 10 new pages are added at the end

3D Printing Will Rock the World is an excellent account of why and how 3D printing will play ...
3D Printing Will Rock the World is an excellent account of why and how 3D printing will play an increasingly important role in the world economy. The book is well researched and written, and is, surprisingly for a book on this topic, an entertaining read. In one section author John Hornick quotes some of the leading inventors and shows how they had no idea of the potential of their inventions. It's much the same with 3D printing as the author convincingly demonstrates throughout the book. For skeptics like myself on the potential of 3D printing, like the song by the Monkees, "I'm a believer".

I was amazed to learn how much I didn’t know
When I first heard of 3D printing, I was fascinated and started learning as much about it as I could. This included reviewing several 3D printer “news” sites which I visited regularly. In my quest to learn more about the technical side of additive manufacturing, I purchased Mr. Hornick’s book.I was amazed to learn how much I didn’t know, not just the technical side but so many fascinating things that are being done with AM and its near and far reaching effects.
