For the price, this thing is fantastic. It sliced my red onions paper thin and with almost no effort on my part. Red onions is mostly what I use it for, but I am sure it would cut any veggies just fine. But, take care because the plank is a tiny bit on the flimsy side, and you must be cautious. But, with that said - IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF CUTTING YOURSELF WITH SHARP OBJECTS, THEN DO NOT COOK. Go out to eat where you can be safe from cutting yourself, or have your mommy come over and handle the "scary sharp things" for you. If, however, you are an adult with a well-functioning sense of what normal and customary caution, and you intrinsically UNDERSTAND that sharp things CAN CUT YOU, then this thing is awesome. It is NOT "dangerous and out to get you." It is YOU who must be careful with it. After all, it is an inanimate object. The reviews that say that "it sent them to the ER" are ridiculous. The users are to blame, NOT this well-designed gadget. I love it. It does what it says and the price is terrific. Just pay attention to what you are doing. Don't talk on the phone and use this mandolin. Pay attention. It is very sharp. Leave it on the locked position when washing or storing.) By the way, I always wash kitchen gadgets by hand. They last much longer that way!

This doesn't come with any instructions for the novice kitchen tool user. It's pretty easy to use BUT a significant safety hazard!! The v-shapd blade does not have a safety cover. The blade is wide open and out there to slice your finger with, which is exactly what I did. I ended up in Urgent Care where they were unable to stitch the wound closed because so much skin had been sliced off. Please don't purchase this. Even using it as one should, it can not be safely cleaned, if you manage to get through your vegetables without injury. It needs redesigned and shouldn't even be for sale. I contacted Amazon regarding what happened to me and they promptly refunded my money, however I'm disappointed to still see this item for sale. I'd add photos of my injury, but fear they'd be removed due to their goriness. Take my word, it was a serious injury.

Great Slicer. Very sharp and sturdy. Cutting thickness can be adjusted, easy to use. I've only used it a couple of times since I got it but appears to be well made and very sharp. If it gets dull or easily broken, I will be sure to update my review (I doubt it'll break though, it feels like a solid product).

It was my first time using a mandoline slicer this weekend when I went to slice a zucchini. The slicer did a great job slicing uniform slices very quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately, I only got halfway through the zucchini before somehow my index finger ended up finding its way into the slicer. I nearly severed the tip of my finger. After a trip to the ER where they had to sew my finger back together, I never got around to finishing the zucchini. I was stupid and did not use the guard. For some reason I didn't think I needed it. Dumb!!In conclusion, it's a great little slicer, very SHARP. Cut through my fingernail sharp. Be careful!

Device is good but the thickness adjustment slips out of position while slicing

I like this mandoline, and the price is definitely right, but it doesn't stay on the thickness setting I choose. It just glides loosely from thicknesses one through three unless I hold it in place with my thumb, which is very awkward, so it's difficult to get a consistent thickness. I don't know if this is a design flaw, or just a problem with the particular one I received. Otherwise, good value for the money.

Been looking for a hand held simple, quality Mandolin slicer for a while. I had one similar for a long time, but it needed to be replaced.I went to BB&B a few times and couldn't find this type of unit. I finally found this one on Amazon, and I love it. It is exactly what I was looking for. It has the adjustability to slice in what size you need it, plus it is a good quality product. I highly recommend buying this one!

I have another one one of they're well made products. This one is just as good. This one comes in handy when i need to slice and clean up quickly. The green accent color is cute. I like how its part translucent so you can see your veggies underneath. Its light and easy to use. I've put a considerable amount of force on it and it doesn't bend. I believe this product will last.
