Fairly effective & pretty neat yard art
These discs arrived on time and are made out of a very reflective stainless steel as advertised. I bought them to keep birds out of a tree beside our driveway because when they fly out of the tree they have a tendency to poop on our car. After hanging the discs on the side of the tree nearest the drive the birds have very definitely eased up on the dive bombing. Much fewer birds in and out of the tree now, but, I can only go 4 stars because a few birds (mainly cardinals for some reason) are not bothered by the flashing and I've seen them actually sitting on the same branch that a disc is hanging from. However, with all of that said I'd still buy again and I would recommend them to family and friends. The pooping has definitely decreased so they do work fairly well - and besides being fairly effective, having the reflective "sparkly" effects flashing around the yard is kind of neat, like some weird yard art.

Not all were created equal
***UPDATE as of 6/29/16***Company made contact and is sending a replacement set. They mentioned that this was not a normal thing and it could have had something to do with the way that Amazon is storing their product (ie warehouse with no humidity control). I appreciate the responsiveness and will update this review when the new set arrives.Terrible quality control 7 of 8 sets had rust on the stainless face after removing the protective plastic *I will add photos later* also wear gloves when you try to remove the film or expect to get cut like I did...the discs are very sharp. If they actually work I'll update this review but not happy spending this kind of money for half rusted stainless :/

Good so far....
I'm still working on the best way to place these Discs, but so far they appear to be doing the job. There has been a learning curve to hanging them and the first application ended with them falling off after a pretty good wind storm. All of the discs survived the 10 foot fall onto concreate so they are hardy.I need more time (hence the 4 stars) to really know if this will be a successful solution to my neighbors "feed the flying rats" campaign, but I am hopeful enough to come back and buy another set.

Yay! It works!
I have waited for about a week to write this review because I wanted to see if these discs would continue to keep the birds from building their nests on our porch. Well, they've worked great for us.We stretched a lightweight chain across the porch, way up by the nesting area (attached with eye hook screws) and put the disc hooks through the links of the chain. I've attached a couple pictures; one from the inside and one outside looking up a bit. Please excuse the dirty window and mud on the wall; I haven't washed them yet since the birds finally left :-). The first day the discs were up, I saw one pair of birds swoop up to their nesting spot (which I had knocked down several times in the early stages and they kept moving the spot on our porch but continued to come back) and they immediately went out again because the discs were reflecting the sunlight. It scared them away!! They may have come back after that but I have not seen them anymore, and they no longer line the gutters of our house just waiting for the chance to build their nests on the porch. We love birds but just want them to use a tree for their nests and keep the mess off our porch. This product has worked great for us!

whatever works
I have a Baby Girl who became a fierce hunter when a neighbor put up 4 bird feeds and the droves of wingged creatures stirred the instinct to kill. He would not take the feeders down so I immediately bought the discs. I think they may have helped redirect some birds but even so she brought in a live young warbling that I was able to free from her jaws.I also purchased Audobon's Bird Be Well collar at amazon and these two in conjunction have resulted in a feather free living room (she'd defeather and kill the poor creatures she brought in various rooms of my apartment).

I'll have to update this... I got ...
I'll have to update this...I got these to try to keep my pet chickens off the carport and driveway, but the directions confused me, so I haven't had a chance to figure out how to put them together yet, lol! I'll take another look at the picture, assemble them, and update the success or lack of on the driveway situation, tired of hosing it off all the time! (The discs are big, and very well made and well packaged)

I Really Like These Things
These things are awesome...a lot bigger than I thought they would be, super shiny and the least little breeze sends them into a spin! The quality is great and each disc was covered to avoid scratching. They aren't hard to assemble, just annoying but worth it. I just put them out today...I don't see any birds but time will tell. I would buy these again, much better than tape or cds hanging from the trees...these actually look like decorations. I have one of those mean looking owls and the birds roost on his head...Follow Up: Okay, I've had these things out for a few days now and my cat food stations where I have them are free of birds... I watched yesterday as a few birds tried to approach one of the areas and once they saw the reflections the discs were throwing off..they flew away. I can pay for these things in a week with what I'll save on cat food that the birds were eating. So far they look nice and even better, they are working!!

Making our dogs crazy
We have only had for a few days and the light that reflects off of them is making our dogs crazy. They chase the light so we had to move them to less ideal areas. We also tried to put on out chimming cap where a woodpecker visits, but they make a chime sound that can be heard through the chimminy which is worse than the occasional woodpecker. It was also quite more work to assemble than I would have thought. It was not difficult, just very time consuming. We ended up only is using two of the eight because there is no other reasonable place to put them. In that area... They do seem to work.
