I needed a pair of kitchen shears and the ones readily available did not fit the bill. They were cheap but not sharp. These Miyabi kitchen shears are VERY sharp. They’re well made in Japan and feel like quality in my hands. Competitor’s prices are the same, but not as good as the quality of these, including Henkel and Wüsthof.

Great scissors

Bought my first set of these Japanese kitchen shears in 2020. They were great, right out of the box- cut anything, fit my hand(s) perfectly and no play in the blade pivot point. Then got a second pair ( as a backup). This pair had play in the blade pivot- when I tightened ( use a 10mm open end wrench ), the play lessened but the edges dragged and cutting was not a smooth action. In other words, one pair was near perfect and the other just average. So I don't know if the Quality Control has changed since '20 or I just got an unusually good product, initially. Will try to keep that first pair longer by handwashing, only. FWIW: former engineer who is very handy with tools

I have consistently used these kitchen shears for the last 5 years. Unfortunately, they can only be shatpened so many times, before the bolt loosened and the edges don't meet correctly, so it's difficult to cut proteins and herbs now. Decent, but wish the company would provide a sharpening service.

I recommend to my friends

I own 6 Miyabi knives and wanted to add the shears to my arsenal. As expected, they are very sharp and a great addition to my knife block. The only reason i cannot give these shears 5 stars is because they don't easily come apart for sharpening. There is a nut and bolt but all other sheers normally have a function where if you open them past a certain amount you can separate them in two facilitating washing and sharpening.
