Wood Trick Safe Locker Puzzle Box 3D Wooden Puzzles for Adults to Build

This puzzle is very sturdy and well designed. The instructions are fabulous, and as long as you have patience to sand and wax every moving piece, it will be great! Up to a certain part in the instructions, it will have you double-check that the gears are working properly. After that, everything doesn't work together until you have it totally together, so I wasn't sure if I was putting it together right. But after I finally assembled the lid, I left the lid open (just in case I needed to take something apart), and following the unlocking instructions, everything worked great! I was VERY happy I took the extra time to sand all the rough spots and wax ALL the moving parts. Because of this, I have a very fun combination lock box that very few (if any) people will be able to figure out on their own. You can see in the picture that I stained a few of my pieces to make it a contrast color and a bit more interesting. You can do what you want, just be careful to either dry the paint/stain, or make sure they are not part of a moving piece, because the wood may swell. This lock box is by far, my favorite puzzle to date, and I have put together many of these 3D wooden puzzles. I love most of them, and love that most have great directions. Wood Trick's instructions are wonderful, and it's very rewarding to get something like this put together. I highly recommend this puzzle, not only is it highly quality and has thick wood pieces, it's VERY fun, and VERY rewarding to complete.

Amazing puzzle! I thoroughly enjoyed this puzzle and it was well worth the money. The finished product is really cool to look at and show others how it opens. A few things I would suggest before taking on this puzzle: 1. Invest in some parafin wax, a wax melter and a small paint brush. It is far easier to brush the wax on than to try to rub it on with that little piece of wax. You will need a lot more wax than provided anyway. Only wax the pieces that it tells you to and where on the piece it says. 2. I found that a rough nail buffer was excellent to sand the pieces that needed sanding. 3. Buy a small craft hammer. Trust me, it will save your fingers. They get very sore putting the pieces together. 4. Use the tool to push the pieces out. It is found on board 6 and is very helpful. 7. Pay close attention to the direction of the pieces. It’s very important to get pieces a certain way. Always pay attention to the exclamation marks. They are important. 8. When waxing pieces, apply wax and then burnish with your thumb and finger. Remove all wax from the face of the piece with your thumb nail. Do not over-wax! Wax becomes like glue when too much is used. You might try a wood lubricant instead. I’ve just recently found that product and am going to try it on future puzzles. 9. Take your time and enjoy the puzzle. Dont try to rush through or it won't work in the end. Make sure that each section's parts move like they are supposed to before moving on. All in all, this is a great puzzle. It is very well make and the instructions couldn't be more clear. It is well designed and a lot of fun to put together. It took me about 7 hours to complete and it works perfectly....as long as I follow the instructions. I am still working on remembering all of the steps to open! Have fun!

The Wood Trick Enigma Chest Lock Puzzle Box has completely exceeded our expectations. With 504 pieces and a 4/5 difficulty level, it strikes that perfect balance between challenging and deeply satisfying. My fiancé and I have been building it together, and it’s honestly become one of our favorite shared activities. This is only the beginning for us with these 3D puzzles — we absolutely LOVE them. The engineering behind this model is impressive — everything fits, moves, and functions exactly the way it should. We’ve had zero issues with the mechanics so far, and the quality really shows. One thing we appreciated is how easy the pieces are to punch out. Even when a piece gives a little resistance, it pops out cleanly without breaking or splintering. That alone makes the building process so much more enjoyable. If you’re into puzzles, hands‑on building projects, or intricate mechanical models, this is absolutely worth it. It’s beautiful, engaging, and such a fun way to spend time together. 100% worth every penny. Highly recommend!

UPDATED 04/16/24 - I have put together several of the Wood Trick products and each one was most enjoyable. You got a good feeling when each one was complete and everything worked as designed. My 6 year old great grandson helped me put together the bigger parts. All I can say about the Enigma Chest is "awesome". Assembly moved on pretty well and according to instructions until I got to installing part 131. The top hole for part 41 was cut too high and part 186 that was supposed to fit over the two part 41's on part 131 would not fit. It took me a while to figure out what the issue was. The top hole in part 131 was cut too high so it won't match up with the holes in part 186. Apparently this was not an isolated incident as I have seen numerous reviews with the same problem. I contacted Wood Trick and they are sending me a new board that has part 131 correctly cut. In the meantime I just left the top part 41 out and continued assembly. While assembling this chest, make sure to sand parts as needed, wax parts that move and double check part placement. It will save you a lot of headaches disassembling parts in the long run. For lubrication they give you a small piece of wax which works well on open, flat pieces. I found that for tighter spots the small candles that are used for butter warmers work great for tight spaces. Light the candle and use an old artists paint brush to get into the small, tighter spaces. When I finished my assembly, the box opened perfectly. Take your time, check and double check part placement and yours will open too. It's quite satisfying. Good luck!!! UPDATE: 04/16/24 - I previously contacted Wood Trick due to parts for the Enigma Chest that had holes in two different parts that didn’t line up, part # 131 and Part # 186. Wood Trick sent me the two boards, 5 and 7, with the two parts on them. After looking at the two part numbers, the issue is the same. The top hole in part #131 is cut too high which won’t allow the top hole in part #186 to line up with the top hole in part #131. Both boards were sent to me. Didn't someone look at them to verify the incorrect cut? There are many reviews on Amazon also identifying this issue. Apparently there is some sort of production error that is being ignored. In the meantime, I am waiting for a resolution so I can assemble my project correctly.

I might have been more favorably impressed had I not just completed UGEARS' Hurdy-gurdy, but by comparison this project suffers. While it is very beautiful, the amount of sheer complexity doesn't quite seem worth the bother. The laser cutting isn't so clean, nor the plywood itself as high quality as the UGEARS project led me to expect. I would have liked to have less thickness, but given the amount of separation that occurred around piece edges, it's probably just as well that the plywood *isn't* thinner. It would also be nice to have extras of some of the smaller attachment pieces, as I feel that I spent too much time searching on the floor for teeny tiny bits that (hello 21, 20, and 4) are necessary, and irreplaceable. The instructions are, in many places, NOT clear, and the forced perspective used in some of the drawings make it less, rather than more, clear which end of a piece is which. I wanted to be favorably impressed with this beautiful box, but instead I find myself frustrated and disappointed. If you're looking for a wooden puzzle to do, skip Wood Tricks and go with UGEARS instead.

I love gears, and safes; so when I saw this puzzle, I had to try it, and it did not disappoint! Others have pointed out that it isn't as good as ROKR or UGears, and that's true, but that doesn't mean it's a bad kit. I would recommend doing one of those first; my experience with previous puzzles helped me fill in some of the confusing bits. I would have preferred the ability to set my own combination, but I can imagine how that might complicate the model; this kit offers several options. When you get to that stage, understand the column marked PASS is the 3 digits in the combination; the other section (to the left) is for setting the parts that will yield that. I would have had the combination choices on the left & the settings on the right. Before you put the door onto the model, they recommend you test out the combination a few times. Do it! When they tell you to pass a digit so many turns, that means once the gears engage - free spinning doesn't count on this. If you find gears bind, it's usually because a part isn't seated properly. Slowly & gently find where the binding occurs, & check around for exactly what's keeping it. And remember - it's wood, so there will be some friction & resistance: turn gently but firmly, and don't force. Page 51 is the hardest step, because you're matching about 16 posts - I loved it, but I like a good challenge! Just know that it's coming, and be prepared. Finally, once you've got it all together & working, it's surprisingly sturdy! The only times I encountered problems that others had, I was able to fix them. (I did lubricate the locking bars, since someone had had a problem with the door. In fact, I had a problem as well with it being tight - turns out I just didn't seat some parts completely!) Oh, and they give you plenty of toothpicks! Plus, there is a video of someone assembling the kit. It isn't indexed, but if you're familiar with how YouTube works, you can find the part you need. Enjoy the challenge - it wasn't the most difficult thing I've built, but was still a very good ride!

Beaucoup de patience nécessaire : pas loin de 7h pour la monter et ce n'est pas ma première construction de ce type. Un cutter est nécessaire pour détacher certaines petites pièces récalcitrantes et vous aurez mal aux doigts après quelques temps. Bien poncer et cirer les pièces mobiles pour que rien ne coince. Il y a une dizaine de verrous à actionner dans l'ordre pour pouvoir ouvrir la boite ainsi qu'une combinaison à afficher sur la serrure. L'espace intérieur est très vaste, contrairement à d'autres modèles où il semble minuscule : 15,5cm x 8,5cm x 5,5 cm. Pas de crainte de casse pour les petites pièces qui sont proposées en nombre largement suffisant sur l'une des planches. Félicitations aux concepteurs de ce petit chef d’œuvre.

木製立体パズルを探していて購入しました。 到着予定日より数日過ぎて届きました。対応については、可もなく不可もなくです。 ほかの方が投稿している通り、木くずが多く細かい部品も多かったです。 木板の表面も荒く、部品の一部も切れていないものもあり加工があまりよくない印象です。 説明書も基本的に絵と順番を示す矢印のみで、矢印も色が薄く人によっては見にくいと感じます。 けれどデザインは可愛らしく、作り甲斐があるように思えます。 立体パズルをやりなれている人で、少し難しいものに挑戦したい時間のある人なら楽しいと思います。 作るときは仕上げ用の紙やすりがあると、きれいにできるかもしれません。

I bought this as a Christmas gift for a loved one and she loved it ! It was fun to build without being too challenging and the instructions were really clear and easy to follow. It is quite big so you can actually put stuff inside for safe keeping

J'ai adoré ce produit très bien fait l, je recommande de vous procurer un petit bloc de paraffine pour bien enduire les mécanismes. Je vais assurément me procurer un autre modèle.
