I purchased this docking station after the smaller USB dongles I had been using stopped working reliably once I added a second external monitor to my laptop. After spending a lot of time searching Google and asking AI for recommendations, this docking station kept coming up as a top solution. I'm glad I gave it a tr! It has worked flawlessly. Both monitors stay connected, I've had no screen glitches or disconnects, and everything has been stable since I installed it. If you're struggling to get dual monitors working reliably, this docking station is definitely worth considering.

I needed a hub for my laptop for dual HDMI display and additional USB ports. I've had several cheaper devices that either were glitchy or just stopped working one day. I was looking for something a little higher quality and this hub seems to fit the bill. At first, I was having issues where several times a day it would blink out and revert to the laptop screen, then blink back to the extended display. it was annoying. I assumed a defective device and requested an exchange from Amazon. as I was packing up the unit, I noticed the little card in the box- Please contact support if you have issues, let us help! I rolled my eyes- my experience is that product support for most items is an absolute joke. When the second unit arrived, it had the same exact issue. Ugggg. So I followed the links for support and I have to say- support was EXCELLENT! I wish I had saved us all a little hassle and contacted them the first time. Very prompt response, clear communication, easy to follow instruction- it was 5 star. I had to use their tool to collect some logs when the issue occurred (super easy to do) and then I was given instruction to update the driver (very thorough and easy to follow), which fixed the issue. It works great now. The device itself seems pretty good so far. Dual HDMI works great. There are 6 USBA ports, an audio jack and ethernet ports. The unit is connected to my laptop with USBC (it can also use USBA to connect) in the display port. I tested it in the power USBC port as well, and that appears to work fine too. The only thing that would make this better is a few USBC ports for additional devices, like charging my cell phone. (Entirely possible there's a higher model that has that, so if its a necessity for you, check thoroughly for that.) Overall- great product, GREAT SUPPORT!!!!!

I bought a new laptop and two new monitors. I bought a HP docking station and couldn’t get it to work. I bought another docking station and that didn’t work either. After countless hours of downloading drivers and researching I gave up. A few weeks later I went back at it and finally found the c port was for data transfer only. So I found this as was recommended and lo and behold it works!! Thank you so much for providing a quality product that works!!

I am a loyal Apple user and overall I love their products but why in the name of all that’s holy they would create a $1000+ MacBook with this amazingly fast M1 chip then limit it by only enabling it to connect to ONE external monitor absolutely infuriates me! Especially when the screen of the damn thing is only 13”! Oh wait, it’s so they could push ya to spend an extra $200-$500 for the M1 Pro or Max! Grrrr! Ok, anyway….this device is the ONLY docking station under $200 that when used with Plugable’s downloaded driver software allowed me to actually extend to TWO external monitors successfully! And BELIEVE ME I tried a cheaper option that advertised the ability and NOPE! I am a recently retired Mac+ Apple Tech Support Advisor and I tried EVERYTHING I could to NOT have to spend this much on a docking station but this truly is the ONLY one under $200 that worked and worked with EASE! I downloaded the driver, plugged everything in and BAM, BOTH externals popped right up! GLORY HALLELUJAH! So color me THRILLED, after fighting with this for WEEKS for the needed set up for my new job! I was able to connect TWO different brand monitors using a DisplayPort cable to one and a VGA to DisplayPort for the other. The docking station allows for this or the use of HDMI to connect depending on your monitor brand. It DOES NOT include those cables so be sure you have either HDMI to HDMI, VGA to DisplayPort, VGA to HDMI etc…to connect with. Here are the three “cons” I found with this product. First, most electronics are switching from the usb-a to the faster usb-c style connector for charging etc., but this docking station ONLY has USB-A connection options! It is definitely strange & annoying that a $180ish docking station doesn’t have even one usb-c port! Which means, if you intend on connecting a newer iPad, iPhone or even Android phone or tablet you will HAVE to spend an extra $10-$20 for usb-c to usb-a adapters for your current cables or get/use the usb-a style cable. The second limitation I found was that it didn’trrrrrt have any type of SD card reader. So, if you are a photographer or work with SD cards for anything you will not have that ability with this product, they may have another at, I’m sure a higher price point, but this one just doesn’t have it. Finally, it does NOT allow your computer to charge while connected which is definitely inconvenient to say the least. Considering that MacBooks only have 2 usb-c ports and one will be dedicated to the docking station & the other has to be used, at least periodically to keep the device charged, this will definitely be the source of some frustration for me. One other thing worth mentioning, I’m not sure if this may be some user(ME) error & I haven’t been able to resolve it on my own & will have to contact Plugable tech support for assistance, but once the monitors were connected and I ran my cursor from the MacBook on the left moving to the right, the cursor appeared on 2nd external monitor rather than the first! I tried everything I could think of to fix it on my own but alas it wasn’t to be so I’ll have to call support for that weird quirk! Overall, my main objective was satisfied with speed and ease, THAT is what I needed most! I hope this helps & good luck!

This product does exactly what it says it will do. I use it to power two 4k monitors from my MacBook Air - something I was surprised that the Air doesn't do on its own. So the Plugable device plugged right into my USB-C port and easily powered both monitors once I found the right cords and read the instructions. One year and 3 days later it stopped working. I did all the troubleshooting possible and described that to their customer service. Without question, they rushed me a new one. Then it happened again within a few days. Power issues. But before I could complain, the Plugables customer service team proactively reached out to me to see if everything was OK. When I explained the problem, they rushed me another new one. So here's the problem - I have an electric standing desk that is plugged into the same exact outlet as the plugable device. When I raised the desk and released the motor's power button, the plugable died. Motors create a power surge. So now I have a really good surge protector so the nice people at Plugable don't have to keep sending me new devices. These guys are the best for customer service!

Update 3 almost a year down the road a new issue arose, my screen and text bars continuously drag to the right until you cannot view the screen or text, causing standard functions to be impossible. Unfortunately I strongly do not recommend this product. I was almost convinced my Mac is the problem but removing this device fixes these problems. I am seeking an alternative product Update 2 a few more months after the second purchase. Both displays failed within a few months, the second purchase randomly started working again about another full month after it also failed. Very unreliable, but works as advertised when it does happen to function correctly Update 1 Months after I purchased the first one, as well as the second. New - This product works flawlessly for maybe a month. I bought one in May, replaced it in June, the next one lasted 2-3 months and I am now in need of another unit as my displays will not extend from my new Macbook Pro M3. I did realize after each time you turn the laptop off, you. have to re-open the DisplayLink application in order to reconnect your monitors. Unfortunately it no longer works and I am stuck to the default HDMI port to use only 1 extra. This is a very expensive piece of equipment to not even make it past 6 months. I do NOT recommend this product. Original - It was extremely hard to find a way to extend 2 displays from a macbook, this did work for a little while, the HDMI display extenders failed within a couple weeks of using. Everything else connects correctly, keyboard and mouse USB however I'm unable to use this how I intended to. Also very expensive to achieve multiple monitors

Once you get the driver’s downloaded, it looks like a charm. I had an old. Renovo dropping station probably six or seven years old was great for its time, but I needed data ports and faster speed when this is a terrific job I literally plugged it in set it up started using it and haven’t had one issue with it. And I better say yet just in case!!

I bought this docking station in March of 2023 and it has served us well. I had two computers hooked up to it (one at a time of course): one of them a MacBook Air, and the other an LG Gram running Windows 11. The Mac required a little extra TLC to get it up and running - some program had to be auto-started every time I booted up. But once I figured that out it worked fine. The LG worked "out of the box". At the other end I had a 34" wide screen HP monitor and a Samsung 55" TV, both connected with HDMI cables, and a number of USB peripherals including webcam, scanner, CD drives. All the peripherals moved seamlessly from computer to computer with the help of the docking station. A problem arose last earlier this month: the power light didn't come on, on the docking station, and nothing was working. I communicated with customer support through Amazon, and was given some basic troubleshooting steps which I followed. When they didn't fix the problem Plugable speedily sent me a replacement unit and told me to properly dispose of the original one. When I received it I plugged it in and it worked great. Of course I'm concerned that the original docking station failed and hope that the replacement will last longer, but I'm pleased and impressed with the service I received.

Perfection

Após muitas dificuldades em encontrar a dock Station (3 antes dessa) finalmente encontrei a Dock Station perfeita para as minhas demandas (2 monitores externos de tamanhos diferentes). Ela funciona muito bem, deixou a imagem nas telas com uma definição perfeita e seguindo as orientações do vendedor eu consegui fazer o Macbook Air M1 funcionar em duas telas independentes. No meu outro computador Dell também funciona perfeitamente bem! Não precisei instalar o app. sugerido pelo fabricante. Estou muito feliz com a performance do produto. Recomendo!
