I thought I was getting the big ones, but that's my fault -- I know that there are different sizes available, just wasn't paying attention. They still work really well for smaller projects or touch-ups. Flexible for multiple use, but stiff enough for surface-work -- lots of uses for these little ribs! As for my "for beginners" rating, my teacher tries to get beginners to use ribs, but I had to start with feeling the clay for myself and work up to ribs. Your mileage may vary.

The high degree of flexibility makes using these ribs immensely satisfying. They bend easily making altering forms in clay a dream, much easier than metal ribs and ply ribs.

I like this rib—2 in the pack. It is soft—not rigid—but is a little smaller that I expected. No sharp edges. Very good for smoothing clay…on the wheel or slab projects. The price was higher that it needs to be…but it seems durable enough to last a while. I would buy it again.

These are tiny ribs. Not even the size advertised, I did read it before buying and they are at least 1/4 " smaller both ways. Made well but too small.

These pottery tools were just what I needed for my ceramics class. They will really come in handy. Thank you.

I had wanted a larger version of this tool. No blame on the mfg but for me it was entirely too small. Wish I had known, would have tried to find a larger one.

The color and shape is the same but the softness is not the same as Sherrill Mudtools small red rib smoothing tool. The edges were not as refined and left marks on the pottery. I tried trimming them slightly, and that did help, but they are not as soft as I wanted them to be. I bend them and use them to smooth the inside of cylindrical pieces--especially the seam. The same day I tried them, I ordered two of the Sherrill Mud Tools ribs. They came today, I used them without issue. I have other small ribs, and these are better than many of those.,

I liked everything about it. It is a replacement item and it works on all levels.

Got those to smooth out my pottery and, although they are super small, they work great.

Good product. A bit smaller than I thought but is great for smaller bowls. Gives a nice smooth finish.
