1000 Assorted Magic: The Gathering Cards Gold Collection, Model Number: B00JJXEX48

For $35, you get 1000+ cards. My box came with 1,108. While you won't find very many cards worth over .40, the total value this added to my collection was around $125. The condition was lightly played to near mint, some of the cards were slightly warped (an easy fix).Here's the spread:Duplicates- No more than 4 of whatever dupes I got. Of course, I personally welcome duplicates.Set range- Mostly sets from 2000s, but there were some of the 90s as well. A fair amount of Onslaught, some of the LOTR, a few of the various Welcome sets. My guess is the origins of these cards were mostly from packs opened at events and rejected or traded out. (This is a good thing, let's keep these out of the landfills!)Lands- No basic lands (surprisingly), but a healthy amount of specials.Languages- I got a very small amount of French cards. This might make some xenophobic fans squirm, but I LOVE to get the foreign cards! What a treat! I'm looking forward to seeing what other foreign cards will come with my next box.Rares and Foils- If you're looking for treasure, you won't find it here. Most of them are worth a penny on the market. But that's the thing about the market: Some of the commons are worth more than the foil-mystic-legendary-whatever-rares.Color balance- Pretty evenly balanced, though Black and White cards had deeper stacks. This box will please the multi-color crowd, I could build a rainbow deck with the amount of this type.Overall, I think it's worth the money. For the price of a handful of boosters, you get 1,000+ cards.

I'll preface this review that I plan to purchase at least three (3) of these boxes in total, but may go with more in the future. So far, I’ve purchased two (2) which I will analyze in detail below. The first two (2) boxes were purchased with about a four (4) week interval between them. This was purely in the hopes of getting boxes that were made from different batches, to minimize the chance for duplicates between them and get more set variety (which is all an assumption on my part, I have no idea how effective this will be, and probably won’t be able to get a large enough sample size to know for sure.)Also keep in mind that I'm a beginning player at the commander format and am interested not only in collecting cards, but also moving myself into the pauper commander format which relies heavily on common rarity cards. This by default makes this particular product appealing since the majority of the box should contain common rarity cards.As advertised, this product is stated that you will receive a Qty of 1000 Cards. 950 Commons/Uncommons, 25 Foils, and 25 Rares. As other reviewers have noted, you will typically receive more than 1000 cards.Box #1: I received a total of 1094 Cards. 739 Commons (13 of which were Foils), 197 Uncommons (9 Foils), 35 Rares (7 Foils), and 0 Mythics. 971 Cards. The remaining 123 Cards I marked as duplicates and decided to donate them to my play group. There are more duplicates I received, but these were typically the same card but from a different set, so from a collector standpoint I kept those duplicates.So in summary, there were 123 Duplicates (11.2%), 739 Commons (67.6%), 197 Uncommons (18%), and 35 Rares (3.2%).Breakdown by Color:White: C = 117, U = 10, R = 4, Duplicate = 19Blue: C = 123, U = 32, R = 8, Duplicate = 16Black: C = 132, U = 24, R = 5, Duplicate = 29Red: C = 119, U = 36, R = 4, Duplicate = 18Green: C = 123, U = 32, R = 3, Duplicate = 25Colorless: C = 45, U = 24, R = 1, Duplicate = 9Multi-Color: C = 19, U = 32, R = 9, Duplicate = 7Lands: C = 19, U = 7, R = 1, Duplicate = 16 (Note that I kept these duplicate lands and did not count them as part of the 123, can never have too many lands afterall).Breakdown on Type is as follows: 510 Creatures, 71 Enchantments, 164 Instants, 120 Sorceries, 40 Artifacts, and 66 Lands (of the 971 Cards I kept).Market Value: This is a bit sensitive, since market prices fluctuate constantly. I'm willing to say that the Market Value of the 971 cards I kept is just over $90.00 (per TCG Player). Again, keep in mind that these prices fluctuate so please take that with a grain of salt.Box #2: I received a total of 1116 Cards. 543 Commons (14 of which were Foils), 306 Uncommons (9 Foils), 33 Rares (5 Foils), and 0 Mythics. 882 Cards. The remaining 234 Cards I didn’t keep. Of the box, there were 214 Duplicates this time, but I kept 39 because of the value (175 Left). There were an additional 59 Cards that I didn’t keep because they were duplicates of cards I received in box #1.1116 – 175 = 941. 941 – 59 = 882 Cards kept.So in summary, this was 175 Duplicates (not kept, 15.6%), 543 Commons (48.7%), 306 Uncommons (27.4%), and 33 Rares (3%), and 59 Duplicates of Box #1 (5.3%).Breakdown by Color (I did not count the colors of duplicates, so those figures are left out unlike box #1):White: C = 101, U = 49, R = 6Blue: C = 112, U = 26, R = 3Black: C = 79, U = 47, R = 4Red: C = 101, U = 37, R = 2Green: C = 37, U = 26, R = 9Colorless: C = 37, U = 26, R = 2Multi-Color: C = 18, U = 63, R = 6Lands: C = 21, U = 14, R = 2Breakdown by Type for Box #2 is as follows: 467 Creatures, 85 Enchantments, 162 Instants, 82 Sorceries, 47 Artifacts, and 37 Lands.Market Value on Box #2: As my statement for Box #1, please take this with a grain of salt. Current Market Value (per TCGPlayer) is just over $110.00 for the 882 Cards I decided to keep.Overall, I’m very satisfied with the product. I will state however that I was a bit disappointed in how the duplicates played out in box #2. Definitely seemed like there were more duplicates of individual cards (sometimes 3 or 4 copies), with one card having 6 copies which I hadn’t seen at all in box #1.Once I receive and analyze box #3, I will update this review accordingly.

Amazing addition to just about any level collector or competitor looking to expand their collection or building decks to compete with especially commander decks. Cards showed up on time and in great condition. At $.037 cents per card what a steal. Seriously less than 4 cents per card for a 1000 near mint cards is unreal. Hardly any duplicates and for the most part the dupes I got were staple deck cards you want dupes of. Great verity good split between colors creatures and spell types. Also I think the best part was the range of editions spanning back over 20 years. All of this gives me plenty of confidence to repurchase 1 or 2 more times before I feel like I would start getting too many duplicates for the value. To boot it definitely appears I even got an extra 100 cards or so. Great job Star City Games for this one. I already have your 100 rares for $25 on order.

I am very pleased with this bulk box. It's both affordable, and worth your wile. It got here way quicker than the box from 4Knights. They guaranteed (I think) 25 foil cards, and I got 28. I didn't count all the cards in the box, but it was stuffed full, to the point where the box was bowing out. I got a very nice variety of cards from all mana types, and quite the collection of legendary creatures aswell. Sets ranged from core set 7 up to the most recent; including cards from Dr. Who, Lotr, and D&D. I was also surprised to find Sliver creature cards from almost all mana types. There were some duplicates, but I only found a max of 3 extra dupes per cards, and they were mostly full arts or alternative prints, so I'm totally cool with thatAs to why my rating isn't a full 5 stars, we need to go back to how full the box was. It was both a blessing and a curse. Again, I'm very happy with the amount of cards I got, but the cards at the ends of the rows took some hurt. Tho it was stuffed full, somehow in transit, a few cards shifted and got trapped between the edge of the box and the divider insert. They sadly got pretty bent because of this, and some of the other cards warped because of being pressed against the wall of the box for an extended period of time.Over all, I think this is a great bulk box choice for anyone wanting to get into the game. Aside from basic lands, I have enough variety to make multiple mono decks or split decks. Thank you, Star City Games, for making a good value product.
