Heavy Duty Drum Bowfishing Reel

This is a great drum reel for use with my Hammer Slingbow made by SimpleShot. It is just what I need, sturdy, strong, simple, and easy to use. It comes with plenty of fishing line, which I cut in half to save and conserve and extend the use of the fishing line provided. I would recommend that the metal line retainer be replaced with a plastic one that is made from a thick and firm piece of plastic that has a curled tip to make reeling in line easier. I would also recommend a few other changes to the drum to utilize the empty space behind drum for storage of items like spare tips or other spare parts. Other than that I would highly recommend this product, great price, quality of build and design, and the simplicity of it is going to provide me years of fun and slingbow fishing.

The line it comes with completely sucks! The reel itself isn't too bad, really. I mean, it's just a piece of metal. I used threadlocker and this thing won't go anywhere. Replace the line it comes with or you will lose the arrow! Seriously...get rid of the line.

Getting back into bow-fishing and was unsure if i wanted to buy a full rig with a reel and all, this inexpensive hand reel set-up performed amazing, i would recommend this for anyone just wanting to try bow-fishing out. I got re-hooked into bow-fishing and am going to be building a full rig but im going to keep this on set-up on my back-up rig to let my friends give it a go.

The reel itself is fine, but what is supposed to be a spring steel clip to retain the string is very stiff and cheap. This makes it extremely difficult to wrap the line on the spool. I bought it because I had a similar one that worked for decades until the string holder finally broke off. However, that one was of pretty good quality actual spring steel and was designed to flip away for easy winding. This one just doesn't work that well.

It's a hand reel but it works wonders. Bought on a whim to try bow fishing and now I'm hooked. If you don't want to commit to a $100 reel or if you like j were on the fence about setting up a fishing bow this is a low cost option to try performs flawlessly

Lost a brand new arrow first shot! Tested it first on a target,OK ,then shot at a carp and line snapped.
