Back Off, Bear!
As an avid outdoors woman, I spend a fair amount of time camping and hiking - often in places where few humans go. This sets me up for encounters with wild animals. While I am an ardent animal lover and absolutely love being that deeply entrenched in the natural world, I do understand the potential dangers this poses.Enter Frontiersman Bear Spray! This can of pure pain is absolutely essential for anyone venturing deep into bear country. This is a very humane way to deter our caniform friends while still giving ourselves an opportunity to run away. As an animal and nature lover, the last thing I want to do is cause harm to a creature I love. This potent spray can also be used to deter other animals, including dogs, so it's actually a great thing for runners, day hikers, or anyone else who may come in contact with potentially aggressive animals.Thankfully, I've never had to use it. Thus far, I've been able to extract myself from a situation using slow movements and a soothing tone. But I refuse to tempt fate and carry this spray with me at all times. I also do a quick test spray before each trip to make sure there's no clogs and that it's spraying smoothly. I HIGHLY recommend that you do the same. All you have to do is point the canister towards the ground and give a VERY brief spray - like less than a second. MAKE SURE THE WIND IS AT YOUR BACK!!! Otherwise, you're gonna get a taste of your own medicine! And speaking as someone who accidentally sprayed herself in the face with Mace, it sucks severely. Hey, don't judge me! I was 5 and playing around in my grandmother's glove box while she ran in the gas station. They heard my shrill screams all the way inside, and my grandmother sprinted to the car. She yanked open the door and started shoving fistfuls of the slushy ice from the hood of the car. I'm not sure which was worse - the mace or the frigid, kinda sharp slush. But whatever - I got a trip to the candy store! My point is - be careful. Both when you test and in the unfortunate event you ever have to use it.Despite my early childhood trauma, I highly recommend this bear spray! I've used it on multiple trips and have never had a single issue with clogging or flow. The pressure is good which allows the spray to be directed far from you - an important safety feature. The glow in the dark safety pin is also a great feature for taking nighttime trips to the outhouse (or nearest tree).Enjoy nature but give her the respect she deserves! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reply to this review, tweet me, or shoot me an email! Excellent product with strange caveats
I had hoped we would have the chance to use this on a recent camping trip. Really! Sadly, we were disappointed not to encounter any black bears in an area of North Georgia supposedly notorious for them. The trigger and safety are well designed for ease of use and to secure from misfires. At 7.9 ounces there's plenty of deterrent to do the job. This also brings up an interesting and even facetious point. It's clear from the instructions on this item that our litigious climate has affected our collective common sense. Case in point, in the Instructions For Use: "Do not seek out encounters with bears or intentionally provoke them." Their wouldn't be a need to mention that unless someone had. Imagine the intellectual giant who went looking for bears to shoot with this stuff.Nevertheless, this deterrent spray would be good to have not only in case of bears and other vicious animals, but uncivilized humans as well.

Works on humans. Whatever you do don’t do what I did.
I got this for when I’m hiking not so much for bears as for human predators. Well for either really. I can tell you it works on humans because I wiped out when trail running, slid on the trail for a good distance and then the can exploded on me. I don’t blame the can because I fell pretty hard and I was running so the force when I hit the ground and slid was a bit more than if I just fell. As soon as I realized what it was i closed my eyes and mouth as tight as I could, threw down my pack and took of my tank top. It felt like my arms legs face and back were in fire for hours and I couldn’t sit and anything draped on me including clothes made it worse. The sun beating down on me made it much worse as well. I had to get in the shower constantly. After a few hours it felt like a bad sunburn. If you ever do this nsp.gov says to rinse in cool water for 20 min and use something like dawn dish soap but not body wash. It didn’t seem to work well for me but I had a whole can explode on me. Also they say to take the clothes ofF you have on. I had to wash my pack and water bladder pretty well. I hiked the next day and even though I washed it and soaked it in warm water for several hours It still had some left over residue because I could feel my back burning and tingling through out my next hike. Thankfully it was very minimal. Anyway it worked and now I guess I need a new can. :( next time I will be more careful. Make sure you are careful too and don’t let this happens to you because I can tell you it is not fun but it was kind of funny. Lol

Squirts long way stay up wind
This stuff works on humans takes a little to take effect but once it does, I was attacked in my driveway by three my neighbor saw the orange puff of smoke then heard the delayed hollering can is enough for 2 or three uses I thought the delay was from old product but it still had pepper

Confident in sabre quality
This product is manufactured by Sabre, a well known, top quality brand in use by law enforcement worldwide. Sabre is meticulous in lab testing its products to provide consistent potency and performance. I have no doubt this product delivers. My only complaint is the use of a paper label. This is supposed to be carried next to your sweaty body, which has resulted in me having to repeatedly pick tiny pieces of paper label out of my gear. It also means if a park ranger wants to inspect my bear spray to make sure it complies with local regulations, they can't. Switch to a plastic label.
