Brilliant. John Wayne at his very best.

Region ONE BluRAY and what a marvellous picture we get. Fo probably nearly 70 years this has been an all time favourite of mine. From very early B/W TV showings, to Video, DVD and now the ultimate - BLURAY. Excellent picture sound and optional English subtitles. From the opening scenes including Ben and Cliff Lyons riding hell for leather after the army mail coach, to the almost final scenes in the Indian camp ("Ever been scared sergeant??? Yes sir - Up to and including now", the film is full of Ford and his company including very importantly - the writers, at their very best. Realistic? Who catres? I don't. I am 79 now and still get so emotional every time I see this wonderful film. Not my finest review, but I hope it helps. (P.S. How great to see Harry Woods, Paul Fix, Fred Graham, Mickey Simpson, Tom Tyler and the lovely ladies Dru and Natwick)

Great item worth every penny

The second instalment of the acclaimed John Ford cavalry trilogy had a lot to live up to me personally based on my joy with Fort Apache. So it is with a little sadness that I write that this film failed to live up to the promise of Apache as regards a pulsing heartbeat, but that said, there's still so much to enjoy here; and I still find myself grinning in the way that only good cinema can make me. The theme here is the passing of time, time and love lost, lest we forget indeed, these themes give the film a good core to work from, but as good as an affecting character piece as this is, you still scratch around for something to lift your adrenalin juices out of first gear. And while it doesn't happen exactly, anyone being forewarned about the nature of the beast will be richly rewarded regardless. John Wayne gives a top notch performance in what is obviously one of the first out and out serious roles that Ford gave him. His ageing Captain Nathan Brittles requires him to put in a very human fallible performance, something that he achieves in spades; a believable leader ruing the calling of time on his career in the service. Yet even Wayne's affecting turn is trumped by some of the the most gorgeous cinematography you could wish to see from the 1940s. Winton Hoch clashed with Ford on the shoot about various perfections {both parties equally to blame of course}, but the final result is incredible, witness a scene as Brittles visits his dead wife's grave, the backdrop is all purple and red, a storm imminent, has shooting in the desert ever been so lush? The film leaves an indelible mark on the conscious for its art and performances, but as a story it just about stays on the good side of safe. 7/10 for the film and its structure, 10/10 for the artistry involved. Footnote: This release is presented in 4:3 aspect ratio.

This is a must buy for any western fan with outstanding blu ray image right from the opening when Ben Johnson and troopers are pursuing the runaway stage you can almost taste the dust from the arid landscape. Together with John Ford's acting troupe who naturally inhabite their roles effortlessly including the great John Wayne. Plus an good delivery service from supplier.

It's been reported on here in other reviews that this bluray has a stunning picture quality. These reviews are correct. If ever there was. An advert for bluray and celluloid then this is it. This movie shows what can be achieved with celluloid. There isn't a digitally shot movie than can come anywhere close to matching this bluray picture quality and its almost 70 years old Thankfully directors such as Spielberg and Nolan have remained faithful to celluloid As a. Movie she wore a yellow ribbon is tremendous. As a document of fact its complete drivel. It's about as realistic as a reality TV show. But who cares? If you want John Ford reality then watch the searchers. I love the Ford Western trilogy. Yes it's hokum But its supposed to be. This movie is a masterpiece. This bluray picture quality is as good as it can ever get.

このレビューは輸入盤ワーナーブラザースのブルーレイのレビューです。 この映画に関しては、多くの方がレビューしているので、私ごときが多くを語る必要がありませんね！ そこで画質に拘ってレビューしたいと思います。 この作品はビデオ、レーザーディスク、ＤＶＤそしてニューマスター版ＤＶＤと購入し続けてきましたが、輸入盤のこのワーナー版はそれらのどのソフトにもなかった画質のシャープさが感じられるほど綺麗です。 それまでのソフトの画質は、すべてボケたような感じのシャープさが欠けた画質でした。 また色の発色も良く、そして画角も良いです。 この場合の画角とは、スタンダードサイズでも画面をトリミングしてソフト化する場合の画面情報量がきわめて多いと言うことです。 オープニングのタイトルシーンを見てもその差は歴然です。 左端に金色の紐そして更に左側には赤いバックの部分がハッキリ見えています。 赤いバックの部分は全体的に均等な幅で収録されていることから画角に関してもかなり良好だと言えるでしょう。 字幕はなくても、これだけで買う価値のある逸品だと思います。 また、フィルム・グレイン（フィルムの粒子）もあまり目立たない上に、フィルムのキズなども殆ど見られません。 かなりのレストアが施されていると考えられます。 日本盤の 黄色いリボン THE RKO COLLECTION［Blu-ray］と比較してもその差は歴然です。 日本盤のブルーレイもＤＶＤに比べるとかなり画質は良くなっていますが、やはりイマイチ感が拭えません。 この映画のファンならば、手に入れられるうちに購入しておくべき１枚だと思います。 買わないと，きっと後悔するに違いありません。 あくまでも個人の見解ですが････。 あえて悪いところを言うならば、輸入盤と言うこともあり、注文から届くまでに時間がかかるのが難点ですね。 私の場合、予定配達日より８日間もオーバーして届きました。 出品業者が悪い訳ではなく、購入したのがクリスマス・シーズン直前と言うことと年末と言うことで運輸機関の混雑の問題だと思います。 以前買ったときは予定日の初日に届いたこともあります。 と言うことで問答無用の星５つとなりました。 大画面で見たときのこの映画の美しさ（綺麗な画質）を体感出来たのは，私の人生の中で素晴らしい体験となりました。

She Wore A Yellow ribbon is one of the great cavalry/westerns from John Ford with a fine performance from John Wayne. It is also one of the great Technicolor films and at last can be seen in its true glory. I have no problems with the transfer and it is a massive upgrade from the rather dismal DVD release.Not to be missed.
