Great for budget recording or for using virtual amps
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. If you want to take your recordings to the next level or just be able to use virtual amps, this is a MUST. No third party drivers needed, just plug in and let your OS take control. I'm using it with Ableton Live, TS808, and BIAS and damn is is great sounding. Way better than my previous set up, which was recording into a mic. If you want DI, get this now, you won't be disappointed.Only cons I can think of is getting it so it doesn't clip when recording, which is as easy as lowering the input volume in the volume settings of your computer. The other con is that it can be very low heavy. I personally love it, but i understand it can be a flaw to some people. You can boost the highs after the fact, but just keep this in mind.I included a quick video showing off the sound directly into my DAW from my guitar (a 7 year old Epiphone SG Special). Its just some simple chords (which really show the lack of highs) and then some lower whatevers.Just buy it now. It's so worth it.

it sounds AMAZING!! dead quiet and just as good as ...
This in ONLY an INPUT so even tho it shows up as a USB IN/OUT set this as your recording input and set your output to your regular sound card or speakers/headphones Then you can hear your guitar directly into the laptop/desktop. In ASIO4ALL it shows up under ADVANCED SETTINGS as a usb in /out . just turn on the usb in ( I named it Guitar in) then choose that input in your DAW. but remember DO NOT USE IT AS A USB OUT, you cannot use it as both an in and an out simultaneously . Once setup , it sounds AMAZING!! dead quiet and just as good as any interface I have ever used. For the price it was a perfect match for my laptop recording rig, so I don't have to drag around a large interface to record or rehearse Guitar !!! works AWESOME with my IK Multimedia amplitube plugin !!! sounds great!!! I have been a pro recording engineer for 30 years and it sounds as good or better than interfaces costing 100 times more!! 1 small problem though it is digital so at least with my telecaster and strat you CANNOT do volume swells, when you adjust the volume from the guitar knobs there is a loud stepping click as you turn up down or switch pickups but overall I LOVE IT!! I will buy several more, I will update you to see how long it lasts!!!

Works as intended.
Works great connecting my guitar to my computer. I do use this cable for Rocksmith. If you are also planning on doing that be aware that you will need to mod the game to use this cable other whys it wont work. If you don't wanna deal with the hassle just buy the recommended real tone cable. I personally would have bought the normal cable but at three times the price and QC problems I decided to go with this. It was a serious headache to figure out how to mod the game but there are resources online to help. Also any other program you will probably have to put some work in to make it work properly. If you aren't tech savvy I would avoid but other whys works great and I'm happy.

REVIEW AND INSTRUCTIONS - Good, Quality Product
I see a lot of negative reviews for this and I think it's because a lot of people don't really understand what they're buying here. This is not designed for real-time play back; i.e. through an electronic amp on your computer, as there may be lag. A quality "digital interface" is what you need to buy if that's what you are trying to do, and good ones start around $50. You also cannot just pug this into your USB port and start playing "through your computer" - you will need some sort of audio software to be able to recognize it.The primary use I have for this product is to record instruments with a recording software program like Reaper (what I use), Audacity (free!), or a similar program, and for this it works really, really well. You simply plug this into your instrument (in my case a Fender Strat) and the USB port on your computer, then set it as the input of your recording program and play away - no interface needed.I've only had it for a couple weeks now, but it works great for it's intended purpose and seems well made; easily worth the 10 bucks or so that I paid for it. My only issue is that it has an LED on top that is supposed to light up when it's receiving a signal, but that doesn't seem to be working - it still records perfectly on my computer so it's not really a problem - the LED just doesn't light up.

Not compatible with Current level of MacOS and GarageBand
Previous questions and reviews are misleading. Current software levels of MacOS (Mojave) and Garageband are NOT compatible with this cable. Regardless of input settings and blinking LED on USB plug, no input signal detected. Received cable yesterday; I'm sending it back immediately. Will try a different brand that has been tested with current Apple products.

Make sure to use with ASIO4ALL for low latency.
Works great. When I initially plugged it in, there was latency (I am using Reaper). In order to get no latency you need asio4all, have asio4all chosen as your Audio Device, and to configure this "USB Input Device" to be included in the list of things that asio4all is listening to. In reaper, make sure to click "Asio Configuration..." when you're in Preferences/Audio/Devices w/ ASIO and ASIO4ALL v2 chosen.

The transfer from guitar to computer is great and exactly what I wanted
Works really well. I'm still waiting to see if I can possibly use this as a substitute for Rocksmith, but we'll see. The transfer from guitar to computer is great and exactly what I wanted. The only set back is that there is a natural delay going from guitar, to pedal, to computer, then out to my speakers. It's very small, but throws me off. Any recording I do, I have to do it without really hearing what it sounds like. But, if you know your stuff, it shouldn't be too difficult.

Nice quality. Does not work with Rocksmith if you were wondering.

It mostly works, but I wouldn't buy it again or recommend it.
I bought this so I could plug in to my laptop at work and practice my electric without disturbing my coworkers. This does the job, but is pretty disappointing. It does work plug'n'play as described even on a Macbook Air, but the sound quality leaves something to be desired. It automatically boosts the signal, and is very noisy. I can use this for basic practicing using Garageband or similar, but I'd never consider recording with it. Trying to roll off the volume to clean up the tone does not work at all, not with single coils or humbuckers. The hiss cannot be ignored or reduced, even with a decent noise gate or EQing. I get far better results using a standard USB interface, I just didn't want to bring one to work. The material feels more like a USB cable than an audio cable, which isn't great but it's not like I was looking for something for on the stage. In short, I will use it until it breaks, but I won't buy a new one. I'd have been better off with a cheap "Amplug" or small amp with a headphone jack.

Works on PC version of Rocksmith with NoCableLauncher
Bought this strictly for Rocksmith. It will work for PC only with a quick mod called nocablelauncher. Haven't heard of it? This is what you do:-Search "Rocksmith Nocablelauncher" on your fave search engine-find the GitHub link-scroll down and read instructions(basically takes less then a minute, download it, extract file, double click the file called editsettings, select the USB tone cable, click save, start game using the other file called nocablelauncher)That's it. Its not a hack, it will not brick or crack your game. The real Rocksmith cable has coding in the cable so the game knows it's a legit cable. This no cable launcher just adds that piece of coding to any cable and the game thinks it's a legit cable.I have the official steam version Rocksmith 2014 remastered and it works flawless on Windows 10. It may or may not work on Mac, and will not work on console.

Mistakenly bought this cable for my guitar to play Rocksmith. Didn't realize there was a cable included with the game. The difference between the one included in the game and this one is like night and day. Cable is very stiff and the connectors are of very poor quality.

Decent quality, poor tone
Build quality is reasonable, but I can see why it might not last very long with heavy use. The LED blinks while recording, but it's not bothersome. The USB connector housing is very wide, so you can't plug it in if nearby ports are in use.Works out of the box without any driver installation or configuration on Windows, macOS, and Linux. There's basically no latency, so you can use real-time monitoring with it if your OS and software are capable of that. Annoyingly, it acts as an output device as well, so check if you're using that instead of your regular output device if you can't hear anything.Sound level is OK. Can get some clipping with active pickups if you turn them up all the way, but it's a bit quiet with passive pickups even at maximum volume. There's no background noise whatsoever and the sound quality is generally great, with two exceptions. Scratchy components on your instrument (pots, switches) get amplified a great deal. This can be bad if you change pickups, volume, or tone while you play. It also sucks away a lot of the high frequencies, which is fine for electric bass, but leaves you with a dull tone for other things.
