Good even pattern
This thing works great! The control has enough wire to be custom mounted for easy reach. Has about a 12' width for your standard fertilizer. I mounted this on my mower without the vertical 45° mounting bar to get it closer to the ground. Can go full speed ahead (6-7mph) with the gauge all but full open for a perfect spreading pattern. Can only fit about 100# at a time but this thing works so much faster than a tow behind spreader.

Pretty good product for the money, but needs modification.
Bought spreader to use on an ATV to spread fertilizer, pelletized lime, and traction sand. Tried it with sand, and it worked fine (sand MUST be dry), but feed gate cannot be closed with the cable (too weak). Knew this was going to be an issue from other buyer reviews. Bought a 1" (25mm) fast (30mm/sec) electric linear actuator, mounting brackets, and a momentary polarity reversing 12V rocker switch to convert to an all electronic feed gate operation. Bought 5/16" threaded rod (3') and nuts and washers, to allow me to use a mounting bracket for the feed gate control lever that came with the spreader, to make a mounting base for the actuator that is level with the feed gate on the bottom of the spreader. Had to grind the ears off one of the actuator mounting brackets, and drill new holes for the mounting pin, to be able to clear the spinner plate during operation. (See above photos for all this). Used small machine screws with fiber nuts to attach actuator mounting brackets to feed gate and mounting plate. I did use an old screen door brace to create an adjustable tensioner to take the play out of the actuator mounting bracket, to allow the feed gate to close completely and reliably. Removed the spinner plate switch from useless feed gate cable control bracket and simply taped the two switches together to allow me to operate both with my left hand while driving the ATV. Feed gate opens completely, so some internal calibration plates will be needed to control the flow. See another reviewers post to see how he did this using some old CD's; I'm using his idea, and am still experimenting with this. The spreader should spread all the various types of products I want to, and should suit the needs of most buyers. If you don't want to do the mods I did, then just be prepared to have to close the feed gate manually.

works great after modifications
Let me start by saying.... I work in the trades......... and It was obvious to me how everything went together using the directions. So putting this together was a snap for me. But I do see the directions being challenging for others as they use an exploded view print to aid in assembly and most find that hard to use along with the hardware being metric. First recommendation is to change out the hardware to US stainless steel other than the u bolt hardware..........It's been my experience if you ever want to disassemble this in the future using stainless steel hardware with never seez will make it easy. First complaint the gate that slides to allow the control of material dropping onto the rotor below does not close tight, it has a very sloppy movement to it. I modified the cable by bolting the wire to the moving plate, now the movement has a precise control to it and has a positive close position. Second complaint the stock used to make the 2" and 1 1/4" adapter to mount in a receiver is undersized and makes for a sloppy fit ......so much so the hopper wobbles from side to side when traveling with it mounted in my 1 1/4" receiver on my JD X500. I used a ratchet strap to stabilize and help offset the stress on the receiver because of the extreme extended angle the hopper is set at. I normally use only one 40lb bag of fertilizer at a time in the hopper. With 40 lbs at a time in the hopper I found the motor works effortlessly with that amount, however there is about 4 or 5 handfuls of material left in the hopper that will not move into the gate to be spread due to the flat bottom design of the hopper. The deflector and rotor work good at controlling the throw pattern...... it has about a 12' wide spread and mind you it sits higher than a pull behind spreader so you have to adjust how close you are to the edge when spreading. I GAVE THREE STARS but only after my upgrades..........if it was as delivered I would give one star as it would be very frustrating and inconsistent in operation. The only thing I see now is the long term operation of the 12v motor, I will try and come back with a long term update on the performance. I put the controls by my hand for easy operation, it comes with a long electrical wiring harness and the cable for the gate control allows for remote operation other than mounting controls on hopper as directed which is why I was drawn to this unit. It is so easy now with no more jumping out to open or close the gate so you don't leave a pile of material in one spot. This was $300 less than Big Green's model and this is replacing Big Green's top of the line pull behind 175 lb spreader that had to be repaired 3 years out and failed 5 years out from purchased date.Update …4 / 2015……..it states it’s for fertilizer and seed and it did work fine spreading them , I tried this spring to use pelletized lime and the motor would not even turn. So beware

Complete garbage
My first go around with this was a distaste as it blew a fuse every time I turned it on. The replacement is fairing much better. However, it would have been nice if it didn’t spread the full 180 degrees. I had to build a backstop from cardboard. Also it operates at one speed. It’s not the end of the world but you can’t control the speed and distance of the spread just the flow and it does throw it quite far. All in all it does what it claims.***Please do not waste your money on this. Replaced first one as it would constantly blow fuses now my second one is doing same. Just poor quality and not worth the headache. Trust me.

Nice Little Spreader
Did the job for me seeding a small field. Not a large unit but unless you need the seeds very dense it doesn't need refilling too often. I got a good density with the gate just under half open. Spreads seed to one side more than the other, but not so much that it causes a problem. Easy to control the gate, and it can just be closed without stopping the motor if you need to stop seeding.Be warned if you are front mounting - I front mounted it on my quad and was getting covered in seed. I inserted a piece of cardboard by the spinner so that it didn't spray the quad with all the seed. Once I did that the spread was much better.I'm sure you could get better units for more, but for the price and frequency I use it I am very happy with it.

Product not worth the price. Very cheap materials
The product is made very cheaply. When I tried to open the gate for the seed the plastic broke right in my hand . The opening is too small and clogs up quickly. This product is not worth $200. Honestly i would like my money back. It has never worked once.

Not worth the money
Continues to blow the fuses . Tried to use for 1st time and had to replace the fuse 5X. Would never buy this again.
