Perhaps works TOO well?
First off, does this work? YES, it does. Is it any good? Not so straightforward an answer. As a test, we used this indoors for the first few days, by an open kitchen window. The hot weather required open windows. We caught some 20 flies. Now although we get the odd housefly and bluebottle, double figures seemed a bit OTT. (Oh, it took a while to pinpoint where the horrible smell was coming from). Putting it outside, literally within 20 minutes there were at least 15 new flies inside, with another 5 or 6 flying around the unit about to enter it. The flies enter, then fly around inside, unable to get back out again. They eventually fall into the liquid mixture in the bottom. The mixture that goes inside smells of poo, so no wonder it attracts flies. And herein lies the major problem. It ATTRACTS flies! So yes it does trap and kills flies, but by using it you're tempting all the flies out there to come to you! It's not a pleasant thing, loads of flies in and around, with a graveyard of dead flies building up inside. These units are available both as disposable and reusable. Chucking the whole thing away once full "Great!"; emptying it on the other hand... So take your pick. Make sure it's outside in an area you're not going to be on a regular basis or use a different method that's not going to attract flies, but kills the odd one or two that you normally have.

Works far better than I thought but the smell was sickening
Wow not a pretty sight but no flies indoors now. As the instructions say not much happens for the first 24 hours then look out its fly Armageddon. Only thing is the plastic hanger broke so had to use a bit of wire to hang the unit. But the stench after two weeks was absolutely disgusting we had to dispose of the trap as you going into the garden was so unpleasant.

Disgustingly effective
Disgustingly effective. Would be 5 stars if handle wasn’t so flimsy. One handle arrived broken. Does smell which it’s supposed to so don’t put too close to building

Hands down best purchase
The flies have been so bad this summer that I was starting to despair, thought I would try these fly catchers and wow so impressed. Set it up by the back door and within a few hours there were so many flies trapped. Remember to remove the label for maximum effectiveness. The instructions said to give it 24 hours to start working but it worked straight away. Easy to set up too. Nothing to plug in and not attracting any bees or butterflies, just flies. Lasts for one month and then you buy a refill sachet. A brilliant, simple, cost-effective solution.

Flimsy lidnand hanging tie
I think with these fly catchers you attract flies from everywhere never had so many flies since putting these out, not very happy with the lid and the thin hanging loop went to move it and the whole lid came off all the contents went everywhere dead flies flies still alive flies and omg the smell it smelt like the bog of eternal stench I nearly threw up ive had to put bleach down and disinfectant and sweep up and bag all the flies will have to bleach again because I can still smell it I am awaiting two more but I'm afraid they will be going striaght back box intact lol seriously though the hanging cable whatever you want to call it must be made alot stronger otherwise whats the point of hanging it gets heavier obviously with the amount of flies and my goodness there were flipping thousands

Works really well
Works really really well but it has an awful odor! Flys attract and it was nearly full after a couple of days. It’s made a massive difference and I’d definitely keep buying them. My only grumble is it says it’s reusable. I tried last year and just don’t bother. If you follow the instructions and bury the contents foxes and cats will dig it up that night! Empty it into a bag in the bin and your bin Will stink and attract flys for months after. Just seal it and throw it away. Super efficient and affective but it smells bad when it’s full!

Superb
Such a good buy. One in the top corner of the garden and another in the opposite corner at the bottom. Works best when in the sun to attract wasps and flies. Haven’t been bothered by any smell, the closest one to us is about 2m away, they are no longer bothering us on the patio and the bees go nowhere near it. Filling up nicely - rather satisfying if that’s not too macabre 🤣

Works great, but does have a bad odour
Very very good at catching flies but smells really really bad when a few flies are in it, still worth buying tho
