A bit disappointing
I'm still relatively new at crocheting but I found my hands cramping when using straight metal hooks, so I purchased a few ergonomic hooks and fell in love. When I found these, I thought they would be perfect for someone like myself based off the reviews I read. However, I have to say that, compared to the Boye hooks I purchased, they are a let down. The hooks feel cheap and the yarn doesn't slide easily on the hook. The grips themselves feel like cheap rubber that is unpleasant to hold, especially compared to the Boye. One of the hooks came with a damaged grip! Most importantly, the rubber around the grip has little extra bits that stick out and catch the yarn, making it split. The case is nice and the extra pieces like the row counter and the clips are useful. The company has been polite and appears to care, but after looking around on Amazon, I could have purchased a similar set for cheaper. The reviews are a bit deceptive, since everyone who gave quality reviews has received a "discounted" set.Perhaps this set would be okay for someone who is either quite new but needs ergonomic grips or someone who isn't picky about quality. But again, they can be found for cheaper.Personally, I am disappointed and will be splurging on a nicer set elsewhere.

Cute and comfy at first, degrades quickly
EDIT: I received these in August 2016, after about 3 months the hooks I used frequently were really worn out. The handles cracked and I had to super glue them back together, creating a hard spot that rubbed my thumb raw. The hooks also don't stay in the handles, gradually coming out until you get annoyed and push them back in. If you crochet frequently, invest in a sturdier set because these won't last. I'm leaving my original review below, where I predicted that the handles might not last. This is a quite decent, comfortable hook set for the price. I had been using the skinny aluminum hooks before this, and the ergonomic handles on these hooks make a world of difference, especially with the smaller hooks. No more sore thumb! The metal of the hook was nice and smooth on all the hooks I received. The hooks are tapered rather than inline. I was used to inline but had no trouble adjusting to these hooks. There was a tiny bit of rubber around where the hook connects to the handle, but it didn't affect my work. There is a definite seam around the rubber handles as well, but this is a budget set and I'm not expecting perfection. The colors are vibrant and cute though, and I like that each size has its own color. The millimeter sizes are all imprinted into the hooks. I would have liked if the letter sizes were on the hooks too, but a sharpie fixed that problem pretty quick. The hook seems to go nearly all the way down into the handle, which makes it feel sturdier. The jury is still out on how long the rubber handles will last, and I'll update this review if they start to wear out noticeably. The rubber is soft, and a pet or child chewing on them would definitely ruin these. The set comes with a few extras. The case is a great way to store the hooks and seems sturdy enough. It's not my favorite set of colors (gray with pink accents) but that doesn't bother me, personally. The straps inside the case create a great deal of friction with the rubber handles, making them really hard to remove. On the plus side, that means they won't be falling out if you take this set on the go. The little scissors work alright. Sometimes they have trouble cutting if the yarn is pulled taut. The stitch markers are really handy, and the tiny row counter could be useful too.Overall this is a nice budget set of hooks in my opinion, and a definite upgrade from the Susan Bates hooks I was using. You can see how they were going for the Clover Amour look, and I'm sure they don't measure up exactly, but if you're on a budget these are very comfortable and a good range of hook sizes.Unlike most of the other reviewers here, I was not compensated for this review.

Great set of hooks that are easy to use- cute case!
I received this crochet hook set and love it. I am a knitter but have been wanting to try some crocheting and this kit is perfect. The kit comes with 8 crochet hooks and the hook size is on the needle and very easy to see. The needles all have the soft rubber- silicone handles which makes it nice for holding. Also inside the case is a pair of scissors. Also included are stitch markers. You can never have enough of those. I've been using the stitch markers more now for intricate lace work and these work great because you can add them to your project even after you have your yarn on the needles or have already crocheted. The case is a perfect size and everything fits nicely inside. The zipper on the outside is perfect for the markers and a ruler. This is a perfect set for a beginning crocheting person or someone who wants to try some new needles who's an advanced crocheter.Disclosure- I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review.

Smooth, sturdy, comfortable
I bought this set to replace one without the lovely cushioned handles. I was using the smallest hook to attach yarn to a project I was working on, and it requires significant force to drag the yarn through for the foundation row. The old hook handle was digging into the heel of my hand, scraping off the skin. In addition, I realized I was pulling so hard that my hand was bending the hook in the middle. Ouch. The new hooks are comfortable to use and made quick work of the difficult project. No digging into my hand, no bending. Crocheting has become fun again! And the price is certainly right, especially considering the quality. I would recommend this set to any crocheted.
