Good as pentair
Good so far, but only been a couple weeks. I will update in a year or so if I can remember to do it. Installation was a breeze. Just pulled out the pentair IC40 and this unit just went in the same place. The power connection even had 4 pins, same as the pentair. I saw several reviews where it only had two pins. I donโt know if they just added dummy pins or if the pins are actually used for communication with the unit as in the pentair? Literally took 10 minutes to swap, and that was only cause I had to find a strap wrench to disconnect/connect the pipe couplings. It took a while for it to initials the first time. I thought something was wrong, but it did eventually start. It was reading bad salt level as several other reviews mentioned. I checked the salt level and it was at 3000, optimal is 3400 for this unit so I added salt to 3500(even number of bags). Light was still flashing as bad salt level. I was going to call service center, but read the manual instead. Flashing light means the unit is running, but sal levels are out or near out of specification. Salt level was actually good so problem was with the unit. Reading further I saw a note on how to enter the calibration mode for the salt sensor. I did this and made adjustment so it went from reading 6500ppm to 3500ppm(actual level) and it has been working great for 2 weeks. My chlorine is holding at 2ppm running for 6hrs at 70%. My pool is 25k gallons so for a 40k gal pool it would need to be run for longer and at higher percentage output rate. I hope it lasts. I only got 3 years from the pentair, which is awful for the cost of it.

Only works for 4 months
This product only worked 4 months. Received the first one in August of 2022 and it quit working by December. The seller replaced it in May 2023 under warranty and by September 2023 it went dead again. It is just outside my 1-yr purchase date so they wonโt replace it again. This is a good product for when it worked but for the short use before it breaks at $650 is outrageous. I could have bought a name brand for only $400 more. Disappointed with this company for selling a crappy product and not standing behind it.

Easy, qaulity replacement for Pentair Intellichlor owners
It's a drop-in replacement for Pentair Intellichlor (which appears to be the discontinued). The dimensions and threading are exact fit (though for new installs, the included fittings don't appear to be the same dimensions as what was included with IC40, but that shouldn't matter). The power cable works just fine with the existing power center. I have no idea why there are some reviewers who claimed there is an issue with it. This unit appears to be an improvement over the IC40, as well. It has a numeric salt level display, so that you don't have to guess or buy dipsticks, unlike the IC40. The control buttons aren't exactly intuitive, but they aren't all that complicated, either. The only thing to note is that the controls stand significantly taller than the IC40, as you can see in the picture. If your pool installer wasn't a total hack and placed you IC40 below other pipes or in some other awkward position where the top of the unit is obstructed, this should not matter, but do expect it to require more clearance. Overall, it appears to be an excellent unit, perhaps better than IC40. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this over trying to source a IC40 somewhere.

Perfect Replacement for Pentair IC 40
This is a cheaper alternative if you have a Pentair IC 40 as Idid. This was my second IC 40 in my pools 10 year history. The installation took 10 minutes as the dimensions are exactly the same and the connection matched the IC40 power center. The great news is at 50% itis producing more chlorine than my 5 yr old IC 40. Great product and cheaper replacement. I will change my review if I dont get at least three years of service and an expectation of 5 yrs.

Short life product with no support.
Installs as expected. Works for 4 months then then won't run, error "Check Salt Levels", salt levels are good. No support to check, don't buy. Purchase a name brand that at lest has poor support.

Does not integrate with EasyTouch automation, but there is a hack.
If you are reading this, you are probably in the same boat as me. Your IC40 has failed and you can't find a replacement. In reading the reviews, documentation and Q&A, it was clear that the SPLASH IRCF40 does not work with the EasyTouch automation system. I figured that was not a big deal as it's not that difficult to set the output level or enable super chlorination from the cell itself. However, while installing it I realized that one of the key features of the automation was the fact that when you switch from pool to spa mode, the EasyTouch drops the chlorine output down to 2 or 3% to keep from over chlorinating the spa. While not the end of the world, this would mean any time anyone went to use the spa, they would need turn the SPLASH IRCF40 at the actual cell. That pretty much renders the spa side remote, inside remote and ScreenLogic mobile phone app useless. It's also something that the other household members are not going to be able to do. Since the IRCF40 did plug in just as the Pentair IC40 did, I realized I could hook a relay up to the suction valve control on the EasyTouch and use that relay to only power the IRC40 when the valve was in pool mode. It was a simple hack and it works perfectly. For the IRCF40 itself: Pros: 1) Has the same plug as the IC40, so it's a very simple install 2) Actually produces chlorine 3) Has a LCD display and the LEDs are easier to understand than the IC40 4) Lower cost and actually available Cons: 1) No EasyTouch control, unless you hack your EasyTouch 2) Much taller than the IC40, so make sure you have room 3) The documentation for calibrating the salt level reading is just gibberish. Keep pressing the Min and Max buttons at the same time until you see SALT Tsys. A factor will be displayed which you can change with the Min/Max buttons. Eventually, you can get the salt reading close to the actual salt level. 4) Lifespan is unknown.

Does not work at all and the seller is non-responsive
The system powers up as normal, but after a few seconds it gives a Warning to Add Water then shuts off. Water level is fine, flow is in the correct direction. Thought I would save money by going with an off-brand salt cell but I am now ordering the Pentair.

Direct fit for IC20 or IC40
With the intellichlore prices skyrocketing, this was my only option and was a little nervous going in. This is a direct replacement for an IC40 but also works where an IC20 was. We had an IC 20 and I wanted a little more power to not run the pump as often. Not only was this a direct replacement, I did not even have to cut up tubing for the fittings. Both the power connection to the Itellichlore power supply and the pipe fitting were able to be re-used. plus the kit comes with adapters so that it will fit just about any application. Within a day of installing it, my water was already much clearer and levels were back up to normal. hoping this lasts as getting a IC20 is cost prohibitve these days and this is about half the cost.
