This book is for students aiming at a band 5-6, and a good starter (when followed up with other texts) for students needing a higher score.It is a very useful IELTS-related item to purchase because:1) it presents the learner with the 4 IELTS modules (or parts)2) it can help both General and Academic Module students3) it broadens one's vocabulary by setting such activities in 16 every day situations, each of them very likely to be somehow involved in the spoken part of IELTS (hobbies, cooking, traveling, geography, weather, money, studying, fitness, cars, celebrity gossips, reading, nature, buildings, feelings, technical innovation, languages)4) it gives one actual *tips* on what to do and what not to do during the exam!5) it has lots of pictures, so it's very good for visual learners.However, this book might not be good if you are either a very conceptual person, or a very example-based one. Rules aren't described in detail, and examples are but very few.

This helps me very much with my goal of success of passing the IELTS. Importantly the IELTS for UKVI test session. I hope to get my UK Visa soon and this helps me.

If your requirement is for a book that you can rely on to take nervous intermediate or higher student/s gently through the stages necessary to feel at home with this challenging exam, choose this rather than the many books containing sample papers as their chief ingredient. For instance the education unit focusses in part on the writing paper, but instead of testing and freaking out the student, they take you through a process involving picture description, form completion, nouns and their opposites and their adjective collocations, brainstorming, categorisation, generation of opposing themes, examination of sample paragraphs etc. at the end of which the student has written, almost without knowing it, the 250 word paragraph necessary for one part of the Writing paper. This book with its sister teacher's book is probably all you need. I'd only give 5stars to a book useful under all circumstances.

Es un buen texto de trabajo del alumno, sin embargo el formato que presentan en el texto se enfoca a personas que van estudiar tanto el idioma inglés como el proceso de evaluación del examen IELTS. En el caso de los estudiantes universitarios, el curso que se ofrece va en el sentido de seguir el proceso de evaluación del examen, el objetivo en este caso es que se familiaricen con este proceso.Creo que es un buen libro para los centros de idiomas y para personas que desean llevar este entrenamiento de manera independiente.
