Purchased this coffee based on previous AMAZON reviewer comments and so far I am extremely pleased with the purchase. I actually prefer a lighter to medium roast coffee but decided to purchase the medium dark roast beans to try first. When I opened the resealable bag upon arrival, the freshness and aroma of the beans were very noticeable! I store my beans and ground bean coffee in stainless steel airtight containers to ensure the freshness will last.The fresh whole beans have a shiny appearance and are very aromatic by themselves and when ground are even more so. I use a stainless steel, percolating coffee maker (similar to what you use when camping) to brew my coffee and this coffee comes out great tasting, not a burned over-roasted taste and not too strong with a slight hint of chocolate, cocoa flavored aftertaste. Like the fact that it is certified USDA organic and fair farmer grown.I usually use less ground coffee as I do not like it too strong. Additionally, the finished brewed coffee does not taste bitter a feature I like which does not upset your stomach and give you caffeine jitters if you have several cups in the AM as I do.Overall, I would rate this coffee as excellent in flavor, freshness, aroma, after taste and a great value for the price and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes a medium-dark roast (probably closer to medium roast) coffee that is high in flavor and low in acidity.

Did you know that big chemical manufacturers are banned from using their product in the US? but they can sell the chemicals overseas and then the food products are sold to the US. As a nurse, that is terrifying. We drink a lot of coffee, so we want organic. we have purchased this product for several years. Perfect rich flavor, nice smoky aftertaste. goes great with flavored creamers. Just an excellent product that we are proud to support. Well worth the cost

This Subtle Earth organic coffee came in bright and brand new sealed premium quality heavy packaging. The price is very reasonable in accord with other coffee beans, and even better than several brands, even though organic. 100% Arabica. Had my first cup of the whole beans, ground fresh this AM. Have been looking for reasonably priced ORGANIC coffee, and Don Pablo delivers! Excellent flavor with no bitter aftertaste! Very pleased in every way with this purchase! Better tasting then "Cafe Don Pablo Gourmet Coffee Signature Blend - Medium-Dark Roast". Same roast. This Cafe Don Pablo Subtle Earth Organic Gourmet Coffee - Medium-Dark Roast is a very good tasting inexpensive coffee. Surprisingly so. You can find something better but at a higher price. But at $6.80 a pound it's the best coffee for the price. Smooth taste without any after taste. The only thing I would say that makes it less then higher priced coffees is that it lacks in the flavor of the beans. But that is really dependent on the roast, the darker the roast less the bean flavor and more close it gets to dark roast the more char taste there would be. This is a good compromise between the two. I like the bean flavor of light roast coffees and wife likes the char taste of dark roasts, this is a coffee we both can agree on. I have started buying another coffee and make my own blends, but if don't want to make your own blend of beans then this is an excellent choice for coffee. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is I would like to see this in a light roast as well and blend a light roast with this roast. While this is a good coffee it's not exactly perfect, but with the addition of some light roast beans it could be perfect.I would buy again

When we upgraded our coffee machine to a moccamaster and invested in a conical burr grinder, naturally we wanted to switch from pre ground coffee to whole bean. It was tough finding a certified organic whole bean coffee that also had a decent price point.We go through 10-20 cups a day (amongst 5 adults) and while some prefer lighter roasts and others prefer dark roasts we found the medium-dark to suit everyone’s palette. We started with a 2LB bag to ‘try’ and it exceeded everyone’s expectations. It wasn’t even a week before we decided to order a 5LB bag.Opening the bag and seeing the vibrant shiny beans you know there’s going to be a lot of flavor. The coffee is fantastic hot or cold, even an old cup of coffee tastes great to me. I would put it more on the dark side of medium dark but as someone who enjoys light roasts, it’s definitely a winner. Good quality, great taste, and most importantly certified organic at a fair price!
