This has the good NEC Renesas chipset. Highly reccomended. Works well in my Windows 7 system.
I'm glad I got this adapter. It seemed like the best choice because it uses an NEC Renesas chipset; there are no Via chips on here. Since I try to stay off Via / AMD / ATI and on Intel, Texas Instruments, & NEC to have greatest compatibility & stability for audio recording & video editing, this seemed like a solid choice.The drivers in the box were required on Windows 7. I didn't see anywhere to try to find "more updated" drivers. I think this is because they got them right the first time. The drivers loaded correctly from the CD & the ports are working great at full USB3 "super speed".Build quality looked great, and I'm very happy with my purchase. It's working well in my Windows 7 production workstation.

Installed it and it worked immediately -- no fuss at all -- with Ubuntu Linux 14.04.
