6 & 12 Volts battery tester

Item worked great. I did check out a you tube video instruction as the written instructions were not very clear to me. The first unit was clear and easy to use. Happy

Cool little unit for the money. Works well checking health of batteries, whether in the vehicle or out.

Purchased this Ancel BA301 battery tester after first ordering the BA101 Plus model. The BA101 Plus seemed to be outdated and the instructions to the website links to download the Print software weren't correct. The clamps also were inferior. Please see my review of that unit for more details. The BA101 Plus battery tester was returned. The BA301 battery tester had similar features and actually worked using the instructions to download the software. The clamps on this unit were slightly different with the tips exposed beyond the plastic cover so that they would work on an installed GM style side mount terminal battery, using the side of the clamps to contact the battery terminal bolt head. The tests worked well too and confirmed a marginal battery. The test results were easily saved to my PC. Overall I am pleased with this battery tester and would recommend it.

The directions are somewhat confusing to a non-techie.

This thing is actually a great tool. It goes on sale sometimes, I didn't pay a whole lot... But it has helped me a great deal.... I saw a cheaper version from a YouTuber... but then this better one was discounted down to near the same price.... Saved me a lot, a tire place told me my battery was bad, and I said fine, I have a warranty from the place I got it from, which seemed to make the dude sad, I think he thought he was going to sell me a battery.... I took it back to the parts place, they tested it and said it was good... I took it home, put this thing on it, it said battery needs a charge, battery tests good.... I charged it, then it says "battery is good".... So yeah... They were trying to rip me off for a battery.... Go figure. I guess they didn't like I did Tire Rack for the tires, and they were trying to get me for something..... And I've messed around with it, tested my neighbor's battery's, my friends... My impression is, this thing works, and is legit....

Item states that it will take off surface charge. In reality, you have to turn on your headlights to do it. The tool doesn't do anything for that. Says it will test 6 volt golf-cart batteries, but they are not rated by CCA (cold cranking amps). There is no setting for 6 volt deep cycle golf-cart batteries. Very misleading, but does work on regular car batteries.

I was originally going to purchase another more expensive name brand battery tester. I checked out the reviews on Youtube for that particular name brand and saw that it was being compared to the Ancel BA301 tester. After checking out the review I was impressed with the Ancel. I liked the screen shot which was in color and had a more pleasing and easy to read screen. It wasn't complicated to understand as there wasn't a whole bunch of buttons to figure out. Although being made of light weight plastic made it feel cheap, it was well made with cables and strong clamps that felt above average. Being half the price of the other name brand was also a nice touch.

Purchased to replace a battery tester that I really liked, but it failed to operate. This was a cheaper replacement so I was worried that it wouldn't work as well as the previous one. After extensive testing on every battery I could find at home, in the store, at my mechanics stock of old "bad" batteries I am IMPRESSED. After testing every type of 12v battery I could find not one failed to test correctly. My mechanic had 3 that he thought were bad that tested good with this tester, after putting them in my truck and 2 of his trucks they are still going strong with no issues. Ugly batteries aren't always bad.

AI was helpful in finding specs for batteries that weren't labelled. I'm using this for our passenger vehicles, motorcycles, golf cart, side by side, boat batteries. The more batteries you have the better value you're going to get out of it - especially with my costco purchased ones that I need to check before warranty is up. I highly reccomend!
