U31 3 Way RCA Audio Switcher, Stereo Audio Switch Selector Box

You could certainly build a simple RCA switch-box yourself, but after opening this thing up I don't think you could build one yourself as good for the same money. Nice quality switch and nice tight fitting RCA connectors well soldered to a PC board stuffed in to a well made metal project box. I have one preamp and one pair of speakers. I switch between two power amps. I've been using the SOLUPEAK speaker switcher for close to a year and it's been faultless. For the inputs, I was just using a pair of RCA "Y" connectors. Decided it was time to ditch the "Y" connectors and add a switch for the signal inputs as well. SOLUPEAK again had what I was looking for. Silent switching and zero detectable signal degradation. I make my own shielded interconnects out of Mogami 2549. With the shield connected only on the source side, I have no issues with ground loops. I only mention this because in the description for this item it mentions possibly needing a ground loop isolator. With a properly thought out cabling and grounding scheme, you'll never need one of those items. Anyway, this little box is well worth the price and works perfectly.

So far so good. Does what it's supposed to do, does not affect sound quality. Seems like a quality built product.

Used the SOLUPEAK U31 for a short time while awaiting Delivery of some Audio equipment I had out being modified. Build Quality was Quite nice, far better than other switch-boxes I've owned before. In use, it was audibly invisible, having neither additive nor diminishing sound quality. ~{exactly what was desired). Though not needed or being use curently, I will keep it handy for possible future use.

No issues with rca's being too loose like some have complained about. I bought this so I could have two dedicated system in one room. That means one power and preamp with one set of speakers, and another power and preamp connected to another set of speakers. The dac feeds it, works like a charm. I actually have 3 sets of speakers; two sets connected to a speaker switcher on top of this setup. So, I can switch between two different sets of speakers on power/preamp making a total of 3 sets of speakers in one room that a can screw around with.

I’ve tried two of these U31 units and they both leaked audio into the other lines, which were not selected. How can this be so expensive, well soldered but fade audio into the speakers that are not selected? If two of these units don’t work because they cross-fade (which is covered in other reviews), why would the one you get work? I would not but this item!

Seems solid but have to wiggle the switch to get connection between channels. That sucks. Also the indicator line doesn’t line up quite right with the numbers.

It does what is intended, but it leaks signal onto adjacent channels. Most of these switches do, but this one is quite noticeable. If you are using it in a studio or setting where this switches an input signal between multiple amplifiers/outputs that stay hot all the time, you may have detectable audio output on more than just the selected system. While it is very quiet, it is there and can be heard. I use it in a setup where only the selected amplifier is powered up so it's not an issue for me. It is, however, all metal and fairly well made, but the selection knob does have a little up-down/side-to-side play in it. The knob is connected to a shaft/rod that turns a switch on a PCB that is mounted to the back plate of the switch housing. It was done that way to eliminate the need for wire, but would have been much better quality if the switch was mounted on the front plate and wires ran to each input/output instead of using a PCB. This would have eliminated pretty much all signal leak, but wire is expensive, of course.

Work as described. Used the one input for a SiriusXM radio and one output for Denon receiver and one output for 2 channel amplifier. This let me control my patio speakers. Not the original plan, but Denon wasn't able to separate the 7 channels.

Ich habe mithilfe des Schalters mehrere Aux Quellen an meinen Streaming Verstärker angeschlossen, der nur ein Aux Eingang hat. Es funktioniert sehr gut; beim Umschalten zwischen den Quellen keine Geräusche und ich kann auch kein Übersprechen oder Brummen festzustellen. Ich denke auch die Wiedergabequalität hat nicht gelitten. Das Gerät ist sehr ordentlich verarbeitet und macht einen wertigen Eindruck. Ein kleiner Nachteil, das Gerät ist sehr leicht und wenn man hochwertige etwas steife Kabel anschließt, steht es nicht ganz so sicher.
