Forgotten Algebra

Explains things well, a great refresher to prep for accuplacer testing as an adult! I bought a used copy, and the original receipt from 25yrs ago was tucked into its pages, which was a fun little relic to find. I’m glad I bought this book

The book takes you step by step with a lot of examples and exercises to practice. Highly recommended.

I have not finished the book yet, but can already tell you what a great resource this is. I haven't taken algebra since my sophmore year in high school and I had pretty much forgotten everything I had learned. That was 13 years ago and so far this book is teaching me in a matter of days what took two years of high school algebra back then. Before this book, I was sure that when going back to college I wouldn't fair well on the math placement exam and would have to take a couple of basic classes to get me up to speed. Now I am confident I can go straight to college algebra and do very well. Buy the book and tell anyone who needs to relearn algebra about it.

I found this book perfect for refreshing algebra skills 17 years after my last math course! It brought back to mind everything I learned, and the explanations are clear and concise. Moving forward to calculus hasn't been a challenge at all now that I remember my algebra. Highly recommend!

I'm studying for the GMAT, and after two books from Manhattan and three books from Kaplan, I was still feeling like I was missing something about the basics. This book does a great job of covering what I think I may have learned in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade and also does it in a way that feels like it doesn't stop short of the level the GMAT expects. Also, given that I'm studying for the GMAT, it is fantastic that this book does not support using a calculator. Finally, it provides a significant amount of practice and exercise material, which is otherwise difficult to find for these topics at this level.

As an adult I am going back to college, and bought this book to study and try to test out of lower level algebra classes. So far it has been very easy to re-learn everything using this book. Brief lessons explain everything very well with plenty of examples and problems to try for yourself. Most of the answers in the back of the book show their work too, so you can easily identify when and where you went wrong.

Great teachers make learning easy. Dr. Bleau is great. I used this to prep my kids for algebra in the summers after 6th grade. They thanked me after the fact, but I wasn't super popular over the summer. This is a very well done and as a 50 year+ guy with a year of calculus in the 80s it was a good review for me too. Marketed to get applicants to GMAT up to speed, it is a great way to refresh old memories.

I bought this in the hopes of reviewing college algebra. This is a pretty light weight look at the basics of high school level algebra, but serves that purpose well.
