Easy to use, easy to clean! Everything snaps apart for thorough washing. I appreciate the real airlock created with the water in the canister, compared to the simple silicone valve style. So far I have made my own pineapple tepache, vinegar, saurkraut, and several kimchi variations. I even fermented the unripe tomatoes, onion tops, and broccoli leaves from my garden that would have gone to waste. These help me save money and eat healthy!

I make all kinds of ferments and love these lids. The airlocks work in the gallon jug stoppers I have as well.

I used these for the first time two weeks ago with home grown beets & carrots in a brine. They seem sturdy butI need to fiddle with the air locks a bit as they seem wobbly at the silicone gaskets. No mold has developed, though, just the Kahm yeast and a "mother, right on cue." I also plan to use these regularly for small batch sauerkraut and in half gallon wide mouth canning jars rather than carboys for wine with some of this year's elderberries and grapes.

Just got these yesterday and got some of my homemade sauerkraut going. I read a bunch of reviews and felt like I should share my initial thoughts. The airlocks are heavy and well made compared to the ones I’ve used in the past. These are fiddly things that no matter how well made are prone to cracking and breaking, especially if you are too rough with the cap. I am, so far impressed with the quality of these air locks. The reason I only give 4 stars is that this is my first time using plastic lids for my ferments and that makes me nervous. I got them because the initial fermentation videos I watched years ago had plastic lids and not the metal lids or the plastic inserts into the ball lid ring. I will revise this when my batch of sauerkraut is done.

Seem in good condition, and versatile for differing canning jobs, excited to see what all I can use them for , fits well on jars.

These fermentation lids are mostly fine but they don't properly fit on the 64oz Ball jars for some reason. It's like they twist and twist and twist and never secure - so weird. They're still usable on the larger wide mouth jars but they just don't 100% secure when you tighten them. Fits fine on the 32oz, 24oz, and 16oz wide mouth jars. And of course they are not water tight so if you tilt them or overfill them they'll leak from the sides. Plastic sucks but they don't rust out like metal lids when you're fermenting with vinegar or salted brine.

As others have mentioned, the lid slices through the rubber gasket. Don’t buy, won’t work.
