Another wonderful camera from Nikon!
This is my third in the Nikon Coolpix line, and I love it just as much as my previous ones! If you're a fan of any Nikon Coolpix, this will certainly be something you like! My only disappointment is that there isn't a "Sports" setting anymore, which was something I used a lot on my older models. However, the camera takes such fast pictures that it hasn't really become a problem as of yet. Battery life is good... haven't taken the time to see how many pictures it has per charge, but it's held up through at least 200 pictures at a graduation I went to recently without any battery indications. The charger is different than previous the Nikon Coolpix cameras I've owned, as it plugs directly into the camera as opposed to having to remove the battery. I'm not sure whether I like this, because the AC OUT cover is kind of stubborn to come out. Again, it's nothing that's become a problem. The HD movie is pretty cool. I haven't recording much with it, but the quality on it is wonderful. The record button is on the back of the camera, by the menu, which makes it extremely easy to switch from camera to movie. No setting change! This is definitely one of my favorite features, and is perfect if you like to take both stills and video! The zoom is great, and takes crisp shots from a good distance! The smart portrait feature is fun, but probably not something I'll really use. It's a good replacement if you don't want to use the self-timer, but again, it's kind of a pointless feature. Still interesting, though. I haven't played with the Subject Tracker yet, to be honest. I'll add more to this once I get a chance to mess around with it for a little while. Overall, it's a great camera! Not too heavy, though certainly a little bulkier and heavier than my previous Coolpix camera. Hope this helped! ***EDIT 7/24/10 Okay, after playing with the HD movie, I must say that it's pretty great if you don't mind that it plays on quicktime. The quality is amazing... hard to imagine a digital camera could make video this clear! The Quicktime thing is fairly annoying, and makes editing stuff in Movie Maker a pain, since you have to use a media converter to change the format. I did find out the sports feature does still exist, though not in the same place it has been on my previous Nikon Coolpix cameras. You have to use the menu settings and go under continuous - Sports. A little inconvenient, but I was happy to find it is still on the camera! The battery life is amazing. I took around 900 pictures in one night, as well as 15 minutes of movie and it is still not in need of a charge! With as many pictures as I take, battery life is a BIG thing for me! Overall, I still think it's a wonderful camera and still recommend it after a few months of constant use. Nikon never disappoints!

Great Camera!
After reading some of the reviews on this camera, I resisted the temptation to get the newer touch-screen version of this camera. And despite the $20 cheaper price on the newer version, I think I did the right thing. This is a very small camera and you really can't help putting your fingers on the screen while using it. So I really think the mechanical controled S6000 version is definitely the way to go. Beyond that I was VERY impressed with this camera. The pictures are VERY clear and the features totally blow me away. I've had hundreds of cameras in my lifetime. Many of them very high-end and some cheaper ones. But this one is my favorite. Its almost like Nikon took all my favorite features of my previously owned cameras and crammed all their best features into the S6000. If you are a point-and-shoot photographer, this camera is fantastic, but if you like to push the enevelope with a camera (like I do), this camera will go right along with the program. The camera is nice and small and can be slipped into your shirt pocket very easily so I always have it with me. Battery life seems to be fantastic too. I purchased my first Nikon in Hong-Kong back in 1968. This is only my second Nikon and I'm wondering why I ever used anything else!

Fantastic Little Camera
I have been lugging around my big camera on vacations, and never brought it out otherwise as it was a pain to carry around. All my friends have compact digitals now and the picture quality has improved so vastly, that I finally bit the bullet and purchased this Nikon. Simple to use, great quality of photos and so wonderful to stick in my purse or pocket. We just returned from a vacation to Europe, and it was a dream to have a camera so small and lightweight. My photos were as good as a DSL camera my friend brought with. I am amazed and may never go back to using my bigger camera (except to a trip to see the polar bears this fall as I will definitely need the best zoom lens). I used to take so much time lining up the shoot, and here it was just point and click with awesome results. I highly recommend this camera to any novice or professional that needs a quick, small camera.

Good camera but not incredible
I purchased this camera about a week ago. So far it is decent, but not incredible. The major con with me is the purple fringing that appears when a little over exposed. It mostly happens on out door photos along the skyline. I am finding that I can some times fix it with the exposure dial, but not always. I take a lot of photos outside, so this is an issue with me. Other than that it does take some really nice pics. The flash is a little weak. The HD video has the same problem with the purple fringing as well. I use the video a lot and maybe would have bought a different camera if i knew this. Once again, when the fringing is not there it takes good video. You can zoom the video, but not a lot. Lots of nice scene options and pretty easy to use. The zoom is great on this camera. I took some photos of some mountains and really zoomed in on them and it produced a very crisp photo still. I think this camera is great for carrying around for every day random photos, fits in pocket or pack very nicely and has a quick start up as advertised. I am very active and take most of my photos while mountaineering and snowboarding, and so far not super impressed. I only have been using it for a week so I will maybe do a follow up later.

Not Happy :(
This camera has great specs, however I am not happy with its picture quality. Every pic I took had red-eye problems even after reading the entire manual and adjusting all of the settings I could not get a desirable result. It does alright outside but... inside it produces very dark grainy pics. I am returning this product and sticking with my old reliable Vanon A540.

Absolutely Satified!
This camera is exactly everything I wanted. It takes clear and crisp pictures and works just like the sellers said it would. Really satisfied with my purchase, if you want beautiful, crisp and nostalgia-like images (or just really good images, with a soft beautiful glow), this camera is for you!

Excellent Camera
If you are looking for that nostalgic early 2000s photo look, this camera is for you! Super lightweight and easy to use. Also, I received the camera very quickly. It is in great condition for being a used camera!

Difficult to focus
I bought this camera based on the various positive reviews I read concerning this camera. I got this camera from Amazon and it was very easy to use from the start. I started using it straight out of the box without needing to read too much instructions. The picture quality is average especially indoors. The flash did not have a lot of range. The picture quality and clarity improved once we were outdoor. To be quite honest, I was not disappointed as this was a point and shoot camera costing only about $140. My biggest disappointment, however, was that in many situations (espcially indoors), the auto focus will not focus. As a result, no picture will be taken despite how long or how hard I press the shutter button. I have had cameras where it took a few milliseconds to auto focus on the image. However, I never had a camera where it just never auto focus and I could not take a picture. Thanks to Amazon I was able to return this camera with full credit.
