Horse Anatomy for Performance

Love this book, it is a great read and it will help you understand how your horse internally functions. Horses are such amazing and complex animals and this book really is educational and lays it all out in a logical and illustrative manner. I consider it more of a book you study, if you are interested in learning the intricacies and proper terminology for the internal systems. It will definitely help you to understand why your horses responds in certain ways and thereby will make you a better horse parent! I think anyone who rides should buy this book!

This is a good book for artists s well as horsemen. The drawing are somewhat crude and need to actually follow the form of the horse. All the books I find are somewhat off as well. But If you trace the shapes on your own and find the bones it might be easier to learn them.

I've taught Human Anatomy & Physiology for years, and this is the 1st year I'm teaching a comparative anatomy class. I bought this one for reference, but am so very impressed that I'm recommending it to all my students. It's FILLED with photos and amazing depictions of how our (/a horse's) anatomy moves as we (s/he) moves. Wonderful.

This book has great illustrations. I am using it along with my text books for study and it helps put the dry textbooks in a visual format that allows me to absorb and understand the information more easily. I think it would be a fun read for any interested horse owner.

LOVE this book!! Love all of GIllian's books & videos! The artistry is amazing but the detail allows you to see just how everything is interconnected. The videos are truly awesome but the books allow you to really examine how everything works together. If you are interested in how to strengthen a particular part there is great information here!

Well organized, easy to understand Equine system including what we might over look! Glad to have the lymphatic and endocrine included with everything else! Very thorough and easy to understand book. I gained knowledge that I did not know I needed!! Easy to locate what I need!

This is a great presentation of the horse inside out. Creatively done showing exactly what each physical system (muscular, skeletal, circulatory, etc) is doing while in motion. Meant for performance riders, but terrific anatomy for artists of horses.

What a great anatomy book. Images are stunning. Book looked used though, not new. Spine was pretty beat up. Otherwise would have given it 10 stars.

An amazing book with great illustrations, a friend of mine’s daughter wants to became a vet, she’s still young but that’s a great way to start, also she is a horse show jumper, so that book will also help us in this too.

This is a nice book, but too basic for what I had in mind. Nevertheless, I think it is informative and a lot of horse owners would certainly benefit from reading it. The book has great visuals and colour photographs, of the equine organ systems, which I am sure a lot of horse people would enjoy!

Highly recommend great images & info easy to read but not too light in information

This is the best book about horses I read in a long time and I do read a lot of books about horses! I already ordered other book by Gillian Higgins and look forward to read them, too.
