very good
Gavin and Becca’s story starts with a broken down car and a insult. But they can’t seems to stay away from each other and when the sparks fly they fall into each other like the perfect puzzle piece.

Nice Story, Low on Angst
I'm a fan of Alyssa Rose Ivy and her books. I love her clean, concise writing style, and the characters she creates. I also like how her stories have enough drama to keep me hook, but not so much angst that I feel like I'm going to have a nervous breakdown. I read the first book in the series, Derailed, last winter and was excited to revisit Clayton Falls.I will go ahead and admit, I was worried about Gavin having his own book. I wasn't a fan of his in Derailed. He was too cocky, too pushy. But in Veer, we get to see the other side of Gavin, the man who was dumped for getting injured, the man who's just sort of drifting along.I was very happy that the heroine of Veer was going to be Becca. She didn't play a big part in Derailed, but she was a great friend, and I loved getting to know her better. Strong-willed and with a quick wit and spirited temper, she was an excellent fit for Gavin. The push and pull between the two personalities was fun.As with Derailed, my favorite character was Jake Matthews! This guy is a riot, a button-pusher, and I am itching to get my hands on his upcoming book, Wrecked.

Veer
Veer was better than the first book, but I still didn't enjoy it that much. This time we're following Gavin and Molly's best friend from Boston, Becca. Becca just found out that she wasn't getting her summer job at the DA office, but Molly found her something at the local law firm. So Becca is on her way to small town living. Her car breaks down, and she's rescued by Gavin but they get off on the wrong foot. I really liked this initial tension between them. Of course, as they run into each other more, that tension turns into something else.Where Veer failed for me was that the drama felt so forced and cliche. Gavin has been burned by "Northern women" before, so he automatically dislikes Becca. Becca on the other hand, is the apple of every man in town's eye and winds up going on a date with someone else. She still ends up in Gavin's bed though, and then he's a jerk the next morning for no reason other than "she's leaving so I figured she just wanted a one night stand." Even if she was looking for a one night stand, his logic makes no sense. You shouldn't attempt to read someone's mind and then be rude to them.Becca wasn't any better though. There's a scene with Gavin's mother toward the end of Veer that was so awkward, but I could relate because almost the same thing happened to me. But then Becca jumps to all kinds of conclusion about Gavin based on what his mom said and she really had no basis to project those things onto him. It was the inevitable break up, but it felt formulaic rather than like a real fight. Everyone needs to stop pretending to be mind readers!Veer was in a word, annoying. I don't know what's in the water in Clayton Falls but it's making everyone crazy.

Great story!
Like all of this author's characters, Becca and Gavin seem so real as you read their story. They could be your neighbor or someone you work with, and you just want them as friends. I really liked Becca. She's down to earth, and even though she's had trauma in her life, she's coping and surviving. Enter Gavin. I'm not quite sure why his reaction to her was to angry and intense in the beginning of the book. I get that he was hurt by a Northerner, but it didn't match his personality from the first book or throughout the rest of this book. He must have been having a bad night. Anyway, I'm glad Gavin got his love story. He deserves it, and I think Becca is a lovely match for him. And what about Clayton Falls in general? Let's find this place and all move to Clayton Falls!Veer by Alyssa Rose Ivy was sent to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.

Good enough to kill a few hours reading.
This story brings two outsiders together in a small town and somewhat out of their element. As with book one--Derailed--this book has an underlying theme of letting go of the past. The first main character is dealing with fear and grief, and the second main character is dealing with life never going as planned or hoped. It adds depth to the characters, Becca and Gavin, and it puts Gavin in a more favorable light. With exception of a few editing errors this is a story most will enjoy reading. This book can be read as a stand alone, but the series interconnects various characters in separate stories.

Another good read in the series.
This was another enjoyable read in the series. There were times when I wanted to slap Becca though. However, I understood things were hard for her. I liked Gavin and I thought it was nice what his brother did at the end.

Beautiful
This story was truly exceptional. Becca moves to Clayton Falls because she needs to get away from Boston after her mother dies. Things just don't seem to be going good for her when her car breaks down on the side of the road. Here steps in Gavin a local cop which for some reason they just buck heads. They fight their attraction until one night and then everything falls apart. But with the help of friends they realize that they belong together and need to give it a chance. The author did a fabulous job with the character's and how she can bring you into the story. Sadly I didn't realize that this was the second book in the series so I will have to read Molly's story later but I am looking forward to reading Jake's in Wrecked, I fell in love with his funny character.

The Autumn Review for Veer
I really enjoyed Veer. I loved Becca and I did really like Gavin in this book. In the first book, I wasn't a big fan of Gavin's. I felt like I got to know him much better in this one. I liked seeing how Gavin interacted with his family. He was sweet with them. I liked Becca in the first book and was curious to know more about her. Her past made me tear up a bit. I appreciated seeing her more vulnerable side. I loved her friendship with Jake too. They were funny together. Gavin and Becca made a great couple and I was happy to see into their lives.

This was my first experience of reading anything by Alyssa Rose Ivy and it was an enjoyable one.The book was/is a free purchase on Amazon and as such I felt it was a "nothing ventured - nothing gained" download. Had I have realised at the time that there was a previous book in the series I may have not bothered but I am glad I did.The author gives enough background detail (which I am assuming is from the first book) that you don't feel as if you are missing out on something and the story flows very nicely.Written in the first person and from both of the main characters' point of view, the story is easy to read but at the same time I really didn't want to put it down. The total love-hate, opposites attract, inter-action between Becca and Gavin is great and you can feel the tension and heat sizzling off of them from their very first, accidental, meeting onwards. This is very much a will they, won't they story even after their first sexual encounter (of which there are quite a few!) but of course in the style of all good romances you do get a HEA.Whilst I wouldn't go back and read book 1 now as I have a good idea of what happens in it from this book, I will be looking out for any further books in the series.

Sweet.
Veer is a sweet Romantic story of Becca and Gavin. Becca, having recently lost her mother and an intern/summer position in the DA's office, resorts to visit her friend Molly in Clayton Falls.Stranded, thanks to her unreliable if treasured car, Becca is rescued by the handsome Gavin - a cop and friend of Molly's. Despite their immediate attraction Becca and Gavin butt heads every time they meet. Both Becca and Gavin let their past baggage interfere in what could be a perfect romance, resulting in a tumultuous tale.I really liked this. It was a sweet story and the journey of discovery for both characters was engaging and endearing. The reader discovers the characters secrets along the way and experiences their fears and struggles. This book is a part of the Clayton Falls series but stands perfectly well as a stand-alone read.

nice light romance
Enjoyed this. Easy writing style. Kept my attention and didn't drag.(Original review above).Just read this again, Oct 2015. Loved it. So much about it is just great and appeals to me. Loved all the interactions, the chemistry of becca and Gavin. Love, tenderness, humour. Highly recommended. Have upped my score from 4 to 5 as really enjoyed it. Mild heat. In all likelihood I'll read this again as a keeper.

Gentle romance
Another reviewer said it reminded her of her mother's old Mills and Boon books. I would agree. This is a nice gentle storyline - hate each other then fall in love - a misunderstanding then a HEA.I felt in some places the dialogue was a little stilted, unusual for this author. However, a nice holiday read.

LOVED IT
A nice easy read, good story and very hard to put down. Just wish it was made more obvious there was a previous book in the series. However next one is now on my list!
