Bob Marley: The Legend Live [DVD]

finally available on dvd
I have owned this on vhs for several years and to see it expanded and remastered for dvd release was quite a thrill to me. The original version of this was only a few songs, the set list on the dvd is at least doubled, and now contains the entire concert. There is a documentary and some interviews with Bob and Tyrone Downie (keyboards) talking about Rastafari. The concert however, is the main feature and Bob and the Wailers really showed up to play. Seeing the horn section live in concert is quite rare, the horns only toured with the band on the 1979 tour, so any video from it is quite rare. Some rarely performed songs are also featured in this dvd release, the one that stands out to me is "So Much Things to Say" from the Exodus album. This song is a real gem and wasn't performed much in concert by the Wailers. If you like Bob Marley and the Wailers, this dvd is for you. The audio quality is amazing, and the video for being so old is actually quite good. The documentary and interview with Bob and Tyrone only add to this dvd. If you like the Wailers or reggae music, this dvd is for you, if you don't get it borrow it from a friend, it is that good.

A "CLASSICAL " MOMENT WITH THE KING OF REGGAE.
BOB MARLEY,the most influential phenomenal reggae performer and his band(the wailers) can highly be appreciated in this D.V.D.21 songs (live) make it a collectible item. This is a great show-No question about it.The man himself is nothing short but a charismatic genuis. The public is incredible and lucky for this royal treatment. The feeling is that there may be something greater in the vault but this one here is still a great job!The documentary extra is pretty interesting and as some of us knows it,'Rastafarism'(the philosophy behind reggae music) was mostly perceived by fans worldwide as a "get up and stand up for your rights" reminder than a "follow me" to a spiritual salvation. And we will certainly all agree on one thing for sure:-one love/people get ready-:that's the legacy of B.M.W.(Bob Marley and the Wailers).Enjoy a legend live...Buy it...

Excellent live Bob Marley offering, with one flaw....
I love this dvd, but the overmodulation of the audience applause was a bit overwhelming. Whoever engineered the audio aspect of this dvd obviously didn't know that they were doing, because it was irritating at best. It gets a little old having to turn the volume down between practically every song on this dvd, but the performances themselves were excellent. I would definitely recommend this one over some of the more sketchy Bob Marley offerings, but "Live at the Rainbow" is clearly head and shoulders above the rest.

Great Live Marley DVD
After purchasing the Legend DVD, I purchased this one. This was a great performance. I loved the entire set and the audience reaction to the music was great. Favorite tracks on this DVD were I Shot The Sheriff, Exodus, Jammin, Is This Love, Stir it Up, Concrete Jungle, and Get Up Stand Up. You can tell Bob was responding to their energy. The Marley family should release additional live DVD's so fans can watch a great artist at work.A must have for any Marley Fan.

I've finally found the Marley show I was looking for!
First, let me say that I'm an avid Bob Marley fan. I own every Island release and some other bootleg releases. I have both the Live! VHS and the Heartland Reggae DVD and neither does justice to Marley's career then this DVD. Sure, the picture quality may not be that sharp at time, and Bob's energy seems to be waning(this was a year before he passed away), the show and the vibe felt from the Wailers and the crowd is explosive. I have been looking for this DVD since I saw the Laser Disc version of this concert. People, if there is any Marley to get on DVD, along with the newly released "Legend", this is the one to get.

Must Have for Marley Fans
The other reviewer's gripe about the video focus is somewhat true since this was shot on video equipment not film. Having said that this is still a great show and worth every penny. It was awesome to finally see the rest of this concert after years of watching the VHS edit of the concert. If you are a Bob Marley fan you have to add this to your collection.

Fountain of Love
I love this whole DVD. The energy of Bob Marley seems to flow into him and through him. Then he shares it with the audience with so much passion, compassion, and love. Every one should own a copy and when they feel down they can watch it and experience positive vibrations, feeling of being uplifted, and love.

The Legend is Live!!
This is my 3rd Bob Marley & The Wailers live DVD. The first one was "Uprising Live!" which came out last year and "Exodus - Live At The Rainbow" which was released on DVD in 2005. This DVD has 20 live tracks and was filmed at the Santa Barbara County Bowl on November 25th 1979. It's a marvelous concert, with a feast of quality tracks. This DVD also has DVD Extras with "Prophecies and Messages" which is good and interesting for a 51 minute clip and "The Fans: A Point Of View (From The Sugar Ray Robinson Foundation Benefit, Roxy Theatre LA - 27th November 1979). It's good to see a great concert from a performer who liked to rock-it reggae-style!! Bob Marley R.I.P.
