OMG twists and turns!
I’m on to book 5!! Oooohhh. This book was so good. I’m so glad Kendra brought the character Victoria showing she’s no the Ice Bone Doctor people thought she was as a forensic anthropologist. The love story with Seth Medical examiner and their past breakup was touching. I’m glad to see the back story. The murders I was in suspense to try figuring who done it! Up to the last minute! Keeps you in suspense and engaging each chapter.5 STAR! A must read. If you haven’t read Kendra Elliot’s books start with book 1… some characters go along with each book. 👏🫶

Alone review
This was the first Kendra Elliot book I have read. I liked the main characters and enjoyed the plot overall.

The Ice Queen Melts.
The plot revolves around a new case that is related to a 50 year old case. It also is Dr. Victoria Peres' story and they were both fascinating. Throw in a second chance love story, problematic ex's, teens making bad choices and really nasty baddies and you have a great suspense plot. The prickly Ice Queen, Dr. Victoria Peres, is quick to slice and dice anyone who gets in her way. She has few friends and a driving passion for her job as a forensic anthropologist in the Portland Medical Examiner's office. When Dr. Campbell, the soon to be retiring ME, is called to a crime scene she and his daughter, Lacey, go along. The horror of five beautiful young ladies laid out in a circle is one that Victoria won't soon forget. One spot in the circle was missing as one of the girls was still alive, but barely. The scene was eerie in it's perfection.Dr. Seth Rutledge is in town to interview for the ME job and is called to the scene to assist. The shock of seeing the bodies is only surpassed by the shock of seeing Victoria, the one he loved and lost almost 20 years ago. The meeting was chilly, to say the least, but there was still a spark smoldering between them. When is is discovered that the current case is related to another identical unsolved case from 50 years ago, Victoria is determined to find the identities of the three remaining victims from that old case and give them justice. As she works with Seth, their past melts away and they reignite a passion that had never really died. The case turns very personal for Victoria as clues lead to a church her adoptive parents once belonged to.

Tense and suspenseful and keeps you guessing
4.5 stars…other than some TSTL moments that had me screaming at the page I really enjoyed this 4th book in the Bone Secrets series. I have been working my way through Elliot’s backlist after reading some more recent books and wanting to know the background of characters mentioned in them. I’m turning into an addict! This book about the “cold and distant” anthropologist we were introduced to in previous books is my favorite of the four. Victoria makes an interesting MC and her history with Seth is complicated which makes the relationship interesting. I think a little more detail from his life might have made him more relatable, especially an expansion on the scene with his daughter and soon to be ex-wife. It’s a bit skimpy and doesn’t contribute enough to the storyline as is it seems to me. It makes a point but seems like a vague way to do it. (Or maybe I’m a sucker for conflict and I like seeing a wench get a comeuppance!)The storyline is suspenseful with some good red herrings. I kept going back and forth on involvement and villains. The TSTL moments really annoyed me. They generally do as they come off as lazy plot devices but maybe I’m being too harsh as we have information the characters don’t have. Except the characters themselves have second thoughts about what they are doing so that should be the clue. Plus, the break down in communications between the detectives and the people involved in the crisis is out of character based on previous books.I really enjoyed this series and I hope the books in the next series are just as riveting. Elliot is quickly becoming a favorite author. Plus I love that the audiobook is included with the KU book so I can continue “reading” when I can’t physically be looking at a book. Makes me more likely to read these books as opposed to others in my list so it’s a great marketing device.

Alone
Dr. Peres finds her life in turmoil after 6 girls are found dead in the woods. Their deaths are similar to deaths from years ago and she has found out that 3 of the oldest deaths were never identified. On top of this, the love of her life is back in her life as he has applied to become chief medical coroner. Will she let her guard down and let him back into her life?Another great story with twists and turns that keep you reading.

Twist upon twist
This is a very great book full of surprising twists and turns; even though it is about a murder or set of murders it is a surprisingly enticing book. This is my fourth one in the series and I intend to keep going. Thank you, Kendra!

Sophmoric Internal Dialog
I started with older works from this author, which are better written. There is still exessive sexual undertones but more of the characters. The newer books have a great story line, but the constant sexual, sophomoric internal dialog is nauseating and ruins the narrative. All the stories are connected. I want to learn about the backgrounds of the characters I've already read. The only way I can do that is to skip the unnecessary sex scenes and dialogs. I'm not a prudish person... it is simply constant to the point that the characters are not fully realized. It's sad because this author has true talent. For example: [Tingles "in a good way"] is superfluous. There is also a alot of repetition. It reminds me of a television show recapping the previous week except in the book it's chapter to chapter.

Gripping murder that spans two decades. Don't miss this one!
Alone is Kendra Elliot's fourth book in the Bone Secrets series, and the quality of her books increase with each publication. Dr. Victoria Peres features as the main character and we get to see a breakdown of the old Ice Queen. The book kicks off to the discovery of 5 almost similar looking teenage girls left murdered in the woods whilst the sixth fights for her life in hospital. At the site, Victoria is catapulted 20 years in the past when she hears the voice of her soulmate who broke her heart. Seth has decided to move to Portland after applying for the job of head ME and his main purpose is to win Victoria back amongst the chaos that seems the follow her. We get to understand why Victoria seems cold and distant and we rejoice at her personal barriers slowly dissolving under Seth's persistence. Amid the rekindled romance Victoria falls victim to theft and arson and is lured to a trap that may cost her and Seth their lives. Victoria is totally unaware of how her actions are being orchestrated to fit in with the killer's plans. There are many plots and subplots that culminate in an unexpected conclusion. The story line is gripping and the characters are believable. The only criticism I have that the final chapters fail to explain the method and details of the murder described in the beginning if the book. Having said that, I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

The same but different - in a good way!!
Having just read 'Hidden' and thoroughly enjoyed it I downloaded another three of Kendra Elliot's 'E books' to read whilst on holiday. I started this immediately after 'Hidden' and expected it to be about the same 'hero' but was pleasantly surprised that whilst about the same 'group' of people this time a different 'hero' emerged. Couldn't put it down! I read at every opportunity until completed. I make my 'star ratings' based on awarding one star for a 'yes' to each of the following questions: 1. Did I enjoy the story? 2. Did it hold my attention throughout? 3. Did I get to know the characters and care what happened to them? 4. Was I sorry that the story finished - did I want to read more? and 5. Would I buy another book from this author? The answer to each of those is 'yes' and consequently this is another Kendra Elliot book that deserves my 5 stars.

Not Quite Sure With This One
I still liked this author's third book in this series the most. I think this one got a little more convoluted in places than it needed to be.Another fabulous cover and I liked Victoria's story was being told in this one as she's always been an interesting character.Certain expressions I wondered at coming from the Trinity character-she described photos having a light and airy quality which I didn't see her expressing and again losing her temper with a grieving parent in a hospital later. I didn't see that as being in character.I hadn't spotted any mistakes till after 240 pages and then there seemed to be a few. Words were suddenly missing in sentences and speechmarks were omitted along with the odd fullstop and comma, too. I found that strange. Then stuck was used and I think it should have read struck. Only little annoyances but they were there which wasn't good in a paid book.I wavered between 3 and 4 stars.I'd still read another by her. I'm not sure which character in particular I'd look forward to seeing in the next one, though.

Excitingly different!
Have read others in this series and what Ì find intriguing is how the author expands the characters of the forensic side of the story into a full, interesting, exciting novel, Bones,in any shape or form, to most people mean nothing yet this author has cleverly written several very good ,and somewhat enlightening, stories relating to them! I will certainly now pay more interest to old fossils and bones knowing they can tell more about the past than I could ever guess!,!!!

Didn't work for me.
This was my first (and last) Kendra Elliot novel. In it we meet Victoria Peres, yet another attractive, intelligent sleuth, who's, of course, single. And she has the interesting profession of "forensic anthropologist". Well, put it this way. I was a Human Resources (Personnel) Manager all my working life, and only too often I received a blank look when I told people what I did. How much more for a "forensic anthropologist"! And a "psychological autopsy"? Added to that there's an extremely unlikely death scenario and you wonder if you're on the same wavelength. Well, I wasn't. It was all rather unreal. But at the same time, it was also somewhat stereotyped: not only the attractive, single sleuth, but the love life complexities and three lead characters who were orphans and/or adopted or fostered.I'm afraid I gave up after a third of the book.
