Works like a charm! Read these tips on how to best use!
Yes, it is a runny product, quite watery. It may not 100% clean the skin by exfoliating and whatnot (but you shouldn't be harshly exfoliating sensitive skin anyway) and it is easy to use too much product. It might be a little pricey (especially if you're wasting product), but if you spend money on fast-food/dining out and coffee, why not forfeit one to help your skin. BECAUSE IT WORKS. That's all I ask. My skin was so miserably ITCHY and dry, ugh. Here are some workarounds/tips: If your skin can tolerate it and really needs cleansing from too much oil or dirt or whatever, I'd advise washing off with a sudsy gentle cleanser, rinse off, turn the water off (otherwise it'll rinse the product off before you have time to rub it in), then use this body wash and rub it all over your skin. I don't bother with a sponge because it just wastes product. I empty the bottle into a regular soap dispenser with a pump. This makes it easy so that I can just pump the product right onto my hands and rub all over my skin. People complain about the scent... I mean.. the whole point of using sensitive product lines is because we don't want added fragrances!! If the scent really bothers you, try adding a drop of your favorite inscense oil on a rock and place it in the shower shelf (if you have one). The steamyness of the shower will diffuse the scent. Anyway, the scent is so mild, kind of oatmeal like, and once you rinse off, there is absolutely no scent left on the skin. I then use the anti-itch moisturizing cream from this line while my body is still semi-watery (sealing in the moisture) and then the creamy oil for my hands (since I'm over-washing them these COVID-19 days). I also mix this body wash into some of my soap dispensers around the house that I use for my hands. Man oh man does it really calm the skin on my hands down so that I don't have to over moisturize throughout the day. Just try it out with these tweaks.

Does what it says!
I was skeptical about buying this because of the terrible reviews, but if there was a chance it would help with my dry skin I was willing to give it a chance. TL;DR: this is amazing for dry skin, but you have to take it for what it is. This is not a soapy, leathery body wash. It’s a hydrating cleansing oil. Are the terrible reviews wrong? No, they are not. The product smells funny and it’s more of an oil than a body wash. BUT after using this in the shower (and you do need a lot because of its thin consistency), it was the FIRST TIME my skin did not feel itchy and tight the minute I dried off. I didn’t have to run for the lotion and immediately soak away my dry skin. I will rebuy this every time.

Gross
Arrived loose in a box without tape over the lid. Leaked and absorbed into cardboard box. The replacement arrived the same exact way smdh. I was not a fan of the product. It's a terrible substitute for Eucerin skin calming body wash if that's what you're trying to accomplish. There is zero lather which I didn't expect much but Eucerin had some. The smell is indeed like motor oil. This didn't make me feel clean. It is thicker and greasier than other oil soaps I have used, and not as soft a smell. The bottle design is also awful. You have to squeeze the bottle quite hard to get any out but then wayyyyyyy too much comes out pouring all over the shower. There is no just right level of squeeze on the bottle. It did not flare my sensitive skin. I imagine it is good for the skin which is why I'm giving it 4 stars. I can't get past the smell, consistency and ridiculous lid that won't let any out until it blows like a cannon.

THIS STUFF IS AWESOME!
I had a severe, serious, long-lasting reaction in 2016 to a cheap soap. It debilitated my skin to the point where it killed nerves the reaction was so strong. I have been suffering from dry skin since. After multiple body washes, soaps, etc.. (natural and processed) I decided to try this CeraVe. I LOVE IT! It's turned me around 180 and the skin dryness is much less of an issue, and the sensitivity to clothes is also gone. It made all the difference...what follows is the rundown: THE GOOD: This stuff works! It actually healed my dry skin, and somehow now my clothes don't hurt when they rub against my skin like they did for SO long before. A little goes a long way, too, so it's good bang for the amount you get. The smell doesn't linger on your skin once you rinse off either, so if the smell (described in THE BAD section) throws you off at first--give this stuff a shot anyway. THE BAD: The smell. It smells like glue. It's also pretty expensive, too. You pay a lot for a small bottle. 3-4 times more than a traditional bottle of regular soap. Also, while unnecessary for cleaning, the lack of suds sometimes makes it difficult to determine the places you've washed and you might end up re-washing an area accidentally. THE UGLY: Did I mention the cost? It's pricey. THE VERDICT: No matter the cost, no matter the smell...this stuff WORKS. Its already turned my life around, and I have used it for only a week. It's effective as a cleaner too, underarm odor for example is handled quite effectively and there's no sticky or slimy residue once you dry off. It actually leaves your skin smooth and refreshed without feeling perfumed. TL:DR version: THIS STUFF IS PERFECT!! CERAVE, PLEASE KEEP MAKING THIS PRODUCT FOR THOSE OF US WITH DAMAGED SKIN.

Avoid
First and foremost I had read a review that this soap was very runny. That is a complete understatement that it pours out fast and is it very watery. You have to put the now oily slippery bottle down now try to not spill what little soap hasn't run out of your other hand and quickly rub your hands together before it all ends up in the bottom of your shower or tub. "Don't and I repeat you don't want to use a washcloth or loofah you will thank me later." Once you rub your hands together there is almost no lather the soap turns into an odd filmy consistency. Now that you have wash one area or limb you will have to repeat the process of re-dispensing and hopefully not wasting as much soap as I did. The worst part of this product the smell is completely and utterly awful. So in fairness, I tried it twice even with the deathly smell... The first impression I didn't feel very clean which was an odd feeling getting out of the shower. I wasn't as itchy but I did have to use my normal amount of lotion and I did have to use multiple sprays of perfume upon getting out of the shower the smell of the soap does not fade fast sadly and I had an appointment. On the second try, I was really hoping the second round was going to be a little different this time I tried using a washcloth why above I warn not to. Please take that advice, even with apply soap to the washcloth in hope that it would have a different result it did not, no lather I wasn't sure if I was getting clean or not. You are definitely aware that the product is being used by the odor of the soap. This time after getting out of the shower I wanted to see if it could actually help my poor dry skin, so I reframed from using perfume and applied a thin layer of lotion. I was hoping it would fade, but after the shower and a short time later a family member was standing next to me and looking at me puzzled and tell umm not sure if anyone has mentioned this but... "Whatever you washed with smells horrific." I could still faintly smell it on my skin I went and showered with another body wash. I believe products deserve a fair chance and to try them a few times but this product... Just NO! I threw mine away, disappointed and a waste of money. This one needs to go back to the lab for continued testing... #1CeraVe needs to work on is the consistency and #2 (which I almost made #1) CeraVe you need to work on fixing its products that horrific smell.

I will start by saying that I have pretty severe episodes of eczema that I have struggled to control over the years. My skin is set off so easily by almost any new skin care product so I am happy to report that not only did this body wash NOT cause ANY flareup or irritation whatsoever, it actually soothed my skin - I was actually getting over a recent episode of eczema when I started using this. First, what I like about this product was the fact that it left my skin so moisturized and soft. It contains mostly oils and that was the reason for this. After washing with this, a thin layer of the oils remain on the skin and really sooth it in a way I have never experienced with any other product before. Also, what I loved about this product was the fact that is truly had NOTHING in it that would irritate sensitive skin whatsoever. I had a skin patch test at my dermatologist and discovered I was allergic to 2 things (as are many other eczemas sufferers who just don't know it and don't have the money to pay for a patch test!): Cocamidopropyl betaine, and Propylene glycol. Just TRY and avoid these two skin irritating, eczema causing substances and you will quickly find that the stuff is in virtually every skincare and beauty product, baby product, makeup, and food in the US! Anyway, CeraVe doesn't have either of these. Now, you may be wondering why if I loved it so much, did I only give this product a 3 star rating. Well, that is easy. Because 1, you only get 10 oz of product. I have never ever seen a smaller bottle of body wash in my entire life. You would have to buy so much of this stuff to actually bath with it each and everyday, and the cost is incredibly high to boot! 2. This product did not make me feel clean, and there is no way after a day at the gym would this be anywhere near sufficient to actually "cleanse" any of the "hot spots" on the body. I would have to use bar soap in those areas (feet, armpits, etc.) to ensure cleanliness. I was somewhat okay with that because these areas are not very sensitive on my body, but still. For the price, I was disappointed. 3. By accident, I found an incredible product that is just as gentle as this one on my sensitive eczema skin that doesn't cause any irritation or flareups for SO much LESS!!! It's Tom's of Maine Bodywash (both lavender & tea tree, and unscented with aloe formulas work great!). I found it at Target and bought 7 bottles of it for $5 each, but I'm sure you can get it online. The regular Target price off the shelf is about $7 for 12 oz. so why on earth would I pay nearly $15 for only 10 oz of okay stuff. Sorry CeraVe, your moisturizing cream is second to none for someone with super sensitive skin like mine, but this product is just not worth the price. If it were say, $7-9 I might buy it as an after wash supplement to my actual body wash because I like the moisturizing coating it leaves behind. I hope this helps someone out there!

Keep an open mind
This is not your typical body wash. It doesn't lather, and it's very watery. But I don't itch!!! I've never been able to shower before bed because my skin itches so bad, even with lotion. This does not dry my skin out. The negative star is for packaging, but that can be fixed. I emptied a pump type cerave bottle and put it in there, it works great to reduce waste. When in the original bottle, it gets all over the bottle and you end up with a lot more than you intended. I'm OK with it as I use it as a "refill."

Helps stop the itch without making my shower too slippery!
Good product that helps stop itching! It's not as oily as some other products I've tried, which means it doesn't turn my bath/shower into an ice skating rink. There's still a bit of slippery to it, but not nearly as bad as I have experienced with others. It's unscented which is an absolute must for me. I've been a user of CeraVe for almost a decade, and this is one of their products that I really like. I've read a lot of the low rated reviews, and I think people just might not understand. This isn't going to be like your favorite body wash from Bath and Body Works. It doesn't lather. It isn't scented, so it has a slight oily-ish scent to it. Honestly- I don't even use it all over my body- it's far too expensive for that. But it is a magic product for what it's meant to do- treat itchy and eczema prone skin. I use it on the places I get rashy breakouts, and I use a more regular (cheaper!) soap on my body as a whole. I really encourage people to use and review this product for what it's meant as- a treatment for rashy skin. If you're looking for a bubbly, sweet smelling body wash, this isn't the product for you. If you're looking for a high-quality, unscented, gentle yet effective treatment for eczema and rash prone skin, this is definitely worth trying. Don't be turned off by the bad reviews.
