I am not a weightlifter or anything close, but I am trying to boost my strength and protect my back at the same time. I recently went through my 2nd surgery involving my stomach/abdomen and am much weaker than normal. Sometimes lifting a 6 pack of coke feels like 20 pounds to me. I have purchased a few belts in the last year to increase my strength and to also protect my muscles both in front and back. I have tried numerous neoprene, rubber and leather belts and I am finding that the Gladiator fits and is more comfortable than the others. This is a 4 inch belt and feels a lot heavier than it is once on. There are a lot of women out there who are doing what I am and that is not to be a weightlifter, but someone who can pull her own weight. A mention is that when you open this belt is does have a strong smell. I laid it out full length on a bamboo rack (clothing drying rack) for a couple of days and the smell did go away 97%. This does come in 4 different sizes and I found the size does run true to size.
