Who would have thought I'd get lucky and find TWO quality items from China-Zon (gardening tools was the other)! And... I think they were even purchased in the same week! Wow! Lottery Win Right There!I set out to find the perfect headlamp for my nighttime summer gardening (my FAVORITE time of day to work with my plants) as my husband's headlamp is way too big... And quite frankly a piece of junk. LolI needed my future headlamp to have both wide and soft straps; so to not pull, tangle, or break my hair. I also needed easy adjustment because having the perfect fit means no headachesI looked at many lamps both off/on the China-Zon platform. I opted to go with these because it seemingly met all my criteria; including being made in the USA.Plus, I knew this would be my last China-Zon purchase so I figured what the heck? Right?Well I am so happy to report that the lamp has both met and exceeded my expectations. Its comfortable and very easy to adjust as needed. I have had no problems with the straps bothering my hair either.I love that the lamp piece can rotate up and down. I also like that the light focus is adjustable and very defined; even at its widest point. I also like that the forehead piece is comfortableBonus Points for having 3 light intensity settings!And finally, this lamp just has an indescribable quality of excellence. Every component on it just feels durable and well made.I'm going to find this particular lamp from another seller (not Amazon) and buy one for my husband so I can throw out that piece of trash he has! I also plan to buy one for my 7 yr old daughter because she enjoys gardening at night with me... And yes it adjusts small enough for her head!PS- I've been using this lamp continuously this summer and the light is as bright as ever!

Likes...1. power source - 3 AA batteries makes it very bright. Really bright. Also a long lasting power source, much better than rechargeables, especially since a spare set of batteries is very easy to carry.2. battery pack- batteries load in box on back of strap. They're out of the way of the lamp and balance the load very nicely, easy and comfortable to wear.3. Strap - easy to adjust, stays put, thanks to top strap. As comfortable as any other headlamp strap4. Very, very bright - gives you a nice feeling when you're out in those dark, spooky woods5. "zoom" beam works well, easy to adjust, from a wide field to focused beam.6. Low-level brightness for conserving batteries7. So far switch works great.Not So Crazy About...I'd be a little wary of its construction for heavy duty use, a lot of plastic. I don't think one would want this for pro use, like for a forest ranger or miner or something. But for the occasional camper or household/garage use, it's awesome. We're getting a second one.If anything goes south with its performance, we'll be back to share. Otherwise, no news is good news.

I have NOT used this extensively so my "5 star" battery life rating is based more on the package specs rather than personal experience. But it is a fairly well put together head lamp. Perfect? No -- (what is?) but definitely functional. I would have designed the battery case differently (too difficult to replace batteries in my opinion and I think the door is more fragile than I would like). I would have preferred a manual tightening for the positioning of the headlamp rather than their built-in setting which I don't think can be adjusted for tension. But minor things for the most part. That it uses AA batteries (I use rechargeable; even a Li-Fe-PO4 AA with a dummy pass-through instead of NiMH) is a definite plus though IDEALLY I would have opted for a single 16450 Li-ion battery and I suppose eventually I may try modifying this to accept such a battery. But this is a better option than these "rechargeable lamps" where once that battery goes bad, you are stuck. You can carry extra AA batteries, if they go bad, you buy more batteries, not another head lamp! The light pattern is more than acceptable for routine work. The 3 intensity settings are fine. I routinely use the lowest (dimmest) setting and have no issues with that -- also has the longest battery life. VERY comfortable (after a while almost forget it's even on my head). I may take something like this on my routine bike rides just in case I get caught out at nite and need a light for getting me back. home. Have even considered having a 2nd one for my motorcycle again as an emergency HEAD LIGHT (if for some reason my main light failed -- could be a life saver!) but also to just use in an emergency off the road to check on the bike, etc. Maybe I'll get a third for my truck!I recommend this. Good product -- good price.
