Roman Gods / Up-Front ... Plus

The Fleshtones were one of those bands that escaped the popularity and sales of bands like those my sharona guys or so many lesser bands with the new wave craze. This is unfortunate. What is fortunate is that Roman Gods has finally been rereleased on cd and remastered. I don't believe they ever made anything else comparable to it. It is one of the great uplifting dance and party all the time albums ever released. To be remastered on cd quite well is a blessing for anyone who wants to move with meaning. This is music played by garage musicians from Boston who were trapped in time... a good time. The English Beat and several ska bands released material at the same time that would be played at punk clubs with this and people would say who is that different sounding band. I was there. These guys never really got a big break like the English Beat or the Police or Madness but this album in all it's fun loving anger rivaled or surpassed some of the aforementioned bands. I will caution listeners that the first 4 tracks come from an ep. which is not as good as the Roman Gods material and the cd ends with extra tracks also. Buy it and begin playing with the first Roman Gods TRACK AND YOU WILL FIND YOURSELF forgetting the lack of depth of these songs and then it all fits in as one rocking fun ride seldom heard, For fans of the Fleshtones, they know this is the best thing they ever recorded and it's a pleasure to have it remastered and rereleased on cd.

Que dire sinon que cet album a mis sur le ... la plupart des fans de rock de la période!!!Vous avez affaire au plus grand des groupes de rock du coin de la rue au monde.Ils jouent par amour du rock'n'roll et de leur public depuis plus de 30 ans. Leurs concerts sont toujours une fête bourrée de générosité, comme fin avril où je les ai vus à Tulle. Cet album est grand , il tourne rond, sur les chapeaux de roues. En bonus, vous avez la moitié du live Speed connection II , autrement dit un enregostrement en public à Paris , qui est légendaire.Le concert du premier soir est sorti en France dans les jours qui ont suivi : Speed connection I, brut de décoffrage, sous produit, spontané et immédiat, il est en bonus de la réédition de Hexbreaker et est grand.Puis un lve mieux produit , Speed connection II, est sorti plus tard , reprenant une des deux autres soirées. Je ne l'avait jamais entendu à l'époque.Les deux sont géants, de toutes façons , dans les Fleshtones, tout est bon, car ils sont bons,généreux et qu'ils vous filent la pèche. SPREAD THE WORD !
