Door Genie Sliding Screen Door Closer

Purchased two of these closers for sliding screen doors at two different houses. Worked very nicely as intended, but after about one year, one of the closers only retracts about one foot - not enough to close door. I've stretched it fully back and forth several times hoping to loosen it, but does not return to full length closing when new. Great concept, but apparently poor quality and short lived.

The screen door on my new house slid so good that the wind would blow it open on a daily basis... in fact I could not keep it closed unless I kept it locked. This product did the job and now I can comfortably leave the door unlocked and not find it open. However for some this may not work if your door does not slide very easily to begin with. I will also note that the mounting is not very robust and I had to actually mount mine with screws.I don't expect this product to last but I could see myself buying another.

Believe the reviews folks. I thought that I could be smarter than the others, and I REALLY wanted it to work. I am so over flies getting into the house. Sad to say, this was a big disappointment. I couldn't get enough tension for the door to close the entire way. So, I kept increasing the tension, until I opened the door and the spring rocketed out, narrowly missing my face, and all the inner parts fell on the ground. I was even so desperate that I tried to put it back together, which was a flop on my part. If anyone has any other idea on how to keep the doors closed in my house with 5 kids (besides great parenting) please send my ideas my way!

The media could not be loaded.  I was very skeptical and not sure I should even order this after reading all the reviews. Let me just say, I am so glad I did! It works perfectly! My dog can even open it if she really wants to. Not as easy as it used to be for her, but I don't care, it closes and keeps the flies out! I did have to adapt the attachment point as my door installation left no place to mount the hook. Other than that it works exactly as advertised. And yes, you can adjust the tension by adjusting the length of the string, very simple and easy. If your still thinking about it, stop, just order it.

This was a horrible product. Seems the hook has to be a specific way and for my door the hook was not sideways it had to be up and down. The way to mane it tighter is extremely cheep and a poor method from a plastic slide to tighten the line. The one I got, you had to some how tie the string around another string and it just was poorly and cheaply designed! A real waste of money I hope no one else is duped ito buying this garbage!

This is actually a really great product. I’ve been trying to find a “more industrial” product that would keep my screen door shut. I didn’t believe that this product being so inexpensive would work. After exhausting all other options I have this a shot. SO HAPPY I DID. It works perfect and it was so inexpensive. I highly recommend this to anyone who has a screen door.
