Snowflakes Hardcover – August 1, 2010

This paper pop up book is just a delight, and not just for children! I purchased it on Amazon a couple of years back, and now I pull it out every holiday season. It sits on our coffee table, and guests simply cannot resist picking it up and exploring it's whimsical 3D expressions of the best part of winter! I highly recommend this charming artistic expression of 3D art and prose!

This pop-up is appropriate for all ages. It is truly beautiful and amazing... and one page (of circular cutouts) just bounces and sparkles for several seconds after it is opened. I bought one of these for my 86 year old aunt after I got one for my 12 year old granddaughter and saw how intricate it was. I can hardly wait for her reaction.Keep in mind that these books sometimes need to be "teased" into submission (to pop up correctly). They are sometimes glued together where they should not be or not glued where they ought to be. I order many of these and find that it is a good idea to go through each one before presenting it as a gift. I purchased six different ones this Christmas and only one was perfect but all the others were perfect with just a little help.

We purchased two copies of this book for two of our youngest grandchildren as Christmas gifs. Upon receipt of the books, however, we decided that we will hold them until next Christmas as we believe these two children are a little too young (1-year old and an 18-month old) to truly appreciate the BEAUTY of this book. As an adult, I don't believe I've ever seen a publication as mesmerizing as this book! An immense amount of time and ingenuity had to go into the making of the book and I believe once the kids are a little older, they will be able to better appreciate it. It's a book that can easily be enjoyed by both children and adults, year after year. We're very pleased with our purchase!!!

I can't do a better job then all of the reviewers who gave this book 5 stars.I have been an avid collector of pop-ups x 20+ years and this is BY FAR my favorite. It made me gasp when opening and that's hard to do since I have so many pop-ups it takes a LOT to impress me.This book impressed me with it's artistic quality while also capturing the total whimsy of snowflakes.If you have ever seen snow as it glistens in the fields then you'd understand the reason for the glitter. The only thing I would have changed would have been to use less glitter and better glue for the glitter to stick.Otherwise this is is still a 6+ star book in my opinion.

this book is one of the most enjoyable books one could give to a child an oldster or a family. The contents are very interesting . the cutouts. the information tabs and the interest to learn more about the land of snowflakes. I ordered 4 through Amazon to give for gifts and am considering ordering move. thank you for the quick before Christmas service. Mary B.

I purchased this book to read to a pre-school class and to share with family on Christmas Eve. It is suitable for all ages. The snowflake pop-ups are exquisite! The main text is perfect for young children--short and sweet. However, there are also more informative flaps to open that give additional insight into the formation of snowflakes for older audiences. As with most pop-ups, I would not put this book into the hands of young children who would most likely break the fragile construction. But "Snowflakes" is a delightful book to read aloud and mesmerize audiences young and old. Snowflakes: A Pop-up Book

Amazing visuals -- I can't even call them "pictures" because it goes well beyond "pictures". The popups are absolutely amazing -- definitely the most intricate popup book I have seen, with suspended and moving parts! The illustrations are beautiful, and the story is simple enough but accompanied by little flaps that flip out (also with mini popups) giving non-fiction information about "Snowflake Bentley".A definite must have for any primary teacher!!! :)Be careful though -- some of the popups are quite fragile, and the book sheds a bit of glitter with each use. Definitely a book to keep in a "safe place".

This is a special book that will please adults as well as children. The pop-up scenes run from fun to exquisite. Little flaps give information on snowflakes and the first man to photograph and study them. These can be read by an adult as the child checks out all the details of the pop-up, but some adults may want to take the time to read and study it by themselves! Our grandchildren have loved special pop-up books and this is one that's sure to please discriminating parents and grandparents. I highly recommend it as a gift book for Christmas or Winter enjoyment.

This is a gorgeous book suitable for younger and older children.I bought it to give to my seven year old daughter and we were both delighted by the beautiful pop-ups and the fold-out sections with snowflake trivia inside.

Bought this for my elderly mother who has a real love for the snow. She lovee it! A very special, enchanting pop-up book, very magical.

I chose this book to look at with my grandchildren at Christmas time. It's lovely and the grandchild who has seen it loved looking at it.

Pretty book, but not many words. 6 year old quite interested in it.
