What a find. A hidden gem.
I was in the USAF in the mid 70's and 80's and lived in many large metropolitan areas and even lived in Holland in the mid 80's and I had never heard of the Stranglers. I heard a song on an online video and used an app to identify the song. It was Princess of the Streets. Had to hear more.I really like this 5 disc set.I wish I had heard of the Stranglers sooner .I probably could have crossed the channel and seen them live.

Had forgotten how great the Stranglers were
Was a big fan of theirs when these originally came out as albums; but as I started listening to cd's more and albums less, they kind of fell off the radar. In fact, probably haven't listened to them in 20+ years. Bought this as a Christmas present for myself and its been in my car cd player ever since. What's so cool about these cd's is that you can really hear the evolution of their sound in one nice package, from the menacing sound of Rattus to the polished La Folie. Intelligent songs by great musicians with that great bass in your face sound. The best band never to make it big in America bar none!

WHAT I NEEDED WAS HERE IN ONE CD SET
all i needed was here in a 5 cd set box for a great price, im more of a stranglers 1977 to 79 fan, after that the band went into a bit of an industriel / techno sound wich way back in 1980 was way way before there time, it is the 77/78 stuff that was there best work in my opinion with that whole unique punky sound with the organ in the background, songs like go buddy go are just timeless classics and ive been spinning the first two stranglers records for some near 35 years now, if you like the stuff that went on then i say more reason to buy this set but the band seemed to change there sound very quickly starting in 1979 and it just did not do my ears any justice, the stranglers where on of the best bands to come out of the 1977 uk punk explosion even though i dont think the stranglers felt they where a part of that movement, the same thing kind of happened with the saints by 1979/1980, anyway you sure get your monys worth with this 5 cd set and a great booklet that comes with it......

Strangled for life~
All the best here...and the worst! The classic material is all on this one, with great sound quality, to boot. The Stranglers fit a niche that no-one could and with loads of style and panache...punky goodness with musicianship equaled by none of their time. Truly, a MUST own.

Stranglehold!
An excellent set of The Stranglers dark punk. Studio releases are great and the rarities make you wonder about censorship.

Stranglers’ early discs and bonus tracks - everything you want in one set
The Stranglers were so much more than a punk band... They had more in common with the Velvet Underground, the Stooges and the Doors than the teenage punks they were grouped with. They were their own masters and their songs were uncompromising and gritty, sometimes unsettling but always good.

Lapsed fan (60) rediscovers the joys of his youth!
Until fairly recently, I was a bit of a lapsed Stranglers fan after having enthusiastically embraced the band in the days when Hugh Cornwell was still with them. After he left, so did I. I didn’t believe that they could carry on and be as successful as they had been up until that point. So, after many years out in the wilderness, and with virtually all of my vinyl and cassette collection lost in some inexplicable vortex of absent mindedness, ignorance and house moves, the band wasn’t even remotely on my radar. Fast forward to the beginning of this pandemic, when I befriended someone on Facebook who appeared to share my taste in music. One day, purely by chance, he posted a Stranglers video (can’t remember which one), and all of a sudden I found myself hankering after the more youthful period of my life (well, I am 60), and The Stranglers in particular. As I faced the rather inconvenient prospect of having to buy all of the albums individually, my friend mentioned this collection, and after reading through a few reviews (I still don’t understand those 1 and 2 star ones) I took the plunge and am now happily reacquainting myself with those glorious early period albums. I’ve even started watching YouTube footage of the more recent Cornwell-less Stranglers and surprised myself by how much I enjoyed listening to them, and felt guilty at having abandoned the band in a fit of impetuous youthful rage.So here I am now, feeling very happy with my purchase, but also sad, not just because of all the potentially great Stranglers gigs that I missed because of my petulance, but also at the recent sad passing of that keyboard king, Dave Greenfield. Where next for The Stranglers? Is this now the end of the road for one of the greatest and most enduring bands of the modern era? Only time will tell, but if it really is the end, what a legacy they leave behind, including this brilliant box set.
