I purchased two of these, one for camping/boating/fishing/hunting and another to store in my “worst case scenario” bag. I want to start by saying that I am unsure the need of the syringe, as you can either use the rubber hose to dip it into a pond/lake/stream/etc. It comes equipped with a carabiner attachment so it is always readily accessible and secure.I won’t lie when I say I was skeptical about trying this. I have seen these all over and was not entirely sure on how well it would really work. There is a semi-trustworthy freshwater spring up the road. I decided this would be a good start to try this out, just in case it did not go as planned. I am really impressed with this product I have a similar one that is of a smaller size. That one does not have all of the features this one has. It seems like the manufacturer of this one has all of the bases covered with the syringe for cleaning and the tube for inserting in a bag and the threaded end to screw to a bottle. I plan on putting this in with my backpacking gear. I have the water bottles with a filter that claims to do the same thing as this. It however takes up too much valuable space in the back pack. These would be great in Illinois where the city gave all those people contaminated water. That would be a great test for these. I plan on using this with my flatten and roll water flask or if need be get down and drink right out of the stream.

I do a lot of camping, horseback trail riding, fishing and also take part in Search and Rescue. I have looked at these numerous times and decided to finally get on. Very easy to use, either drinking the water straight from the source or filling a bottle and filtering the water that way. No matter where I am, if there is a source of water, I have a way of safely filtering the water. You never know when emergencies hit and this is great to have in an emergency if your water supply is compromised. As an added benefit, there is straw, compass and syringe included with the water purifier.

My husband has been interested in checking out these personal water filters. He hasn't had a chance to try it out yet, but it seems to be good quality as to how it's made. Will update the review once he's able to try it out more and see how it filters.
