Amazon Basics 16-Gauge Speaker Wire Cable, Polarity Marked, 100 ft, Bronze

I have thus far had zero issues with this speaker wire. It was pretty easy to use and seems very durable. I got plenty so I could easily string it around my area to get my speakers hooked up, even far away from the system.

I used these to wire my home theater system that had 5 speakers. The quality of the cable is great and looks very durable. I have no issues with the sound of the speakers with this and it sounds great. It was very easy to strip off the ends and install to my speakers and the receiver.

I picked up this 100-foot spool of Amazon Basics 16-gauge wire to hook up a home audio setup, running a compact amplifier out to a pair of passive bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer. It strips cleanly with standard wire strippers without tearing into the inner strands, and it lays relatively flat along baseboards without holding a heavy coil memory. You get a massive amount of line for the price. If you are doing basic room runs, 100 feet leaves you plenty of breathing room for mistakes or future upgrades. It’s an excellent, reliable budget buy for standard home stereo setups. It’s easy to work with and performs great!

Easy to work with clearly marked hot and neutral. Clear, solid signal. It's nice and flexible which make it easy to run and keep in place.The transparent nature of the shielding blends better into its environment.The wires themselves were strong enough that they didn't break off when stripping the shielding.Please note: my longest section is about 35 feet. But also, when I had the entire 50' roll running to one speaker it still gave better sound than even the 7ish foot length of the other stuff I was using.Absolutely superior quality over the mono price speaker wire I bought. That stuff could barely send signal.The amp I'm using is not very powerful. Reviewed Sept 2024:Cable quality is a bit subjective, I've read articles in hifi magazines where cable costing £100 a metre is reviewed.. Personally, I take the approach that a heavy(ish) gauge that has a copper core has to be pretty decent.I bought this for hooking up rear speakers in my vehicle, and I this was a very good price with the convenience of Amazon.Ironically before I could use it, I was having a sort out, and I found a few lengths of speaker cable that probably would have done the job, but I decided to use this stuff anyhow.If you are used to the stock 'doorbell wire' cable for speakers, you may be in for a surprise because 16 gauge is quite thick, so if you are trying to thread it through or into tight spaces, this might need to be considered.In my case, I knew I had to pull out parts of the dashboard and drop the head lining, and using a cable threader, it was all good.The thicker core might also mean something in regards to what you're connecting the cable to.. If you're using a regular stereo and speakers, you're probably using banana plugs, so not an issue, but if you're connecting to car speakers and stereo, you might need to think through how you're going to do that. (I'm soldering as much as I can, but if you're planning on using the screw/block type connectors would probably need to be a bit bigger).Once connected, does the better gauge make a difference? I'm not sure, but it sure makes me feel better using it.This is the first time I've used the Amazon branded stuff, last time I bought a spool off evil pay, and it was fine, just took 2 weeks to arrive. I'd be looking at this stuff next time I need some.
