My scaredy cat is afraid of it
I bought this hoping my cat would chase it and be entertained. I ripped it from the packaging, shoved in the batteries, and excitedly placed it on the floor in front of my cat. She seemed interested at first, walking up and sniffing it."Okay girl, go get him!" I said. But as soon as it started rolling around...my little scaredy cat dove for cover. I'm not sure if it was the whirring sound that scared her, or if she was intimidated by the size of it (about the size of a real rat). All I know is that my boo boo kitty wanted nothing to do with it.As far as the toy itself, it feels pretty cheap...but then again, it IS cheap, so no surprise there. It is a bit difficult to control because 1) there is only a forward and reverse button, with no steering and 2) the wheels seemed to have trouble getting traction, so it spun a lot. When I accidentally drove it under the couch, it wouldn't go at all because lint got stuck in the front wheel. While it was easy to free the wheel, I was annoyed by how easily it got trapped and because there's no steering, it's difficult to avoid certain areas and prevent it from happening again. So...back it goes. Going forward, I will either spend more money on a quieter, higher quality RC toy, or just stick to catnip and the red laser pointer.

Good RC rat for kids
My 8-year-old daughter's friend has a pet rat, so she of course wanted one too. We settled on getting her a remote controlled one. She loves it and it works great. She actually got 3 robot-type toys for Christmas and this turned out to be her favorite one. But be aware of what you are buying here. It is way too big to be a mouse. Our very large cat is curious about it, but it's just too big for her to play with, so this is not a cat toy. It moves forward in a straight line and moves backward in an arc. So to maneuver it, you have to back it up to the correct angle with the back button and then push the forward button. It's actually a clever little design and it only took my daughter a few minutes to figure out how to use it. It has a low profile, so it will only work on flat floors or short carpeting. If your carpet has pet hair on it like ours, the wheels will pick it up, but she just uses her scissors and cuts off the tangled hair every once in a while. The controller needs to be within about 20 feet of the rat. As for the batteries, she has used it about twice a week for two months and we have not had to change the batteries yet.

Surprise! It works as advertised. Great value for the money paid.
It actually works very well. I agree that's a bit larger than a mouse but it only took my two cats a few minutes to get over their hesitation to start pouncing on it every chance they can. So far, after 3 days, they haven't grown tired of it although I do pick it up and hide it away in between play times.Everyone is correct that it only turns going backwards but this is easily mastered with the two-button control. So far the batteries are fairing well with at least an hour's worth of use. The range seems to be about 10' (line of sight) which isn't a problem for our use.It also seems to very rugged, i.e., I've already had if fall from the counter top to the floor and it's still working fine. One minor comment is that the "ears" are hard plastic which will "hang up" underneath chair and table legs. This generally happens in the kitchen where there's ample "hazards" available. Perhaps the manufacturer could look at changing the ears to a softer plastic that is flexible. Also, while I'm commenting, make the tail "softer" as well which would make it seem more realistic. At first my wife thought it was silly to get the toy but now she's using it the most. Go figure.Great value for the money paid.

Cats go crazy over it!
This was a great christmas present for my 2 cats! It did take me a couple of days, as I had to buy 2 different batteries and find a screwdriver small enough to open both components (loss of a star) but once they were all set to go, my husband and I had a blast with our cats. The controls are a little hard to get the hang of at first, since there is no left or right, only forward and back, but once you mess around for a bit, you find out how to maneuver it and turn it all around. Our cats really go wild over this. Believe it or not, I do actually wish it were a little smaller so that it would look just a little bit more life-like, but it tires my cats out and gives my husband and i a good laugh, so it is great for the price.

Kinda fun to play with
Cats are interested in it. Kinda fun to play with. IT only travels in a fowards or backwards sort of circular path which at first is a little frustrating but after a few minutes you get the hang of getting it to go where you want. I can see some cats being scared of it, its really too big to be a cat toy. My cats dont exactly play with it so much as they kind of follow it around and stare at it with moderate interest. Since its a little entertaining for me that balances out to a, pretty okay, toy. I wouldn't highly recommend it, but I'm not sad I bought it either.

Awesome toy which I would give 5 stars to - ...
Awesome toy which I would give 5 stars to - only reason for the one-less star is you have to be savvy in the sense that you need to open up the toy and clear out any furr or hair build up around the wheels as it will jam up the wheels after 4-8 weeks. The rear wheels get a bit tricky so pay attention since mechanical parts will fall out - you have to put it back together. Highly recommended with plenty of action for the cat. May scare some younger kittens but any cat over 9 months old will enjoy this. 5 stars if there was easier access to clear our the jams.

Too large and noisy
I wanted to like this, I really did. But I just can't recommend it. For starters, it's much larger than I would have expected, I thought from the pictures it seemed kind of big, but it's huge. So much so that our large, male cat is intimidated by it. Also it's extremely loud, which further adds to the intimidation. And there's the fact that you can't really control it either, only forward and back. But mine ends up moving in more of an arch than in a straight line so you never know where it's going to go.It does move fairly well and is kind of fun to get it to spin around sporadically, but that's about it.

I have not had so much fun in years using a remote control car
Really hard to rate this product. I had a blast using it the first night it arrived. I feel I got my money's worth then. I have not had so much fun in years using a remote control car. Sturdy and stronger than I thought it would be. If this was for just me I would give it a 6 star rating. However my cat is scared of it. He does not like it at all. I bought for him as a toy. Based on that I have given this product 3 stars.

I have to say that I didn't have a good experience purchasing this item
I have to say that I didn't have a good experience purchasing this item. It doesn't come with batteries. Even worse, the mouse and the controller require different battery sizes - the mouse needs 3 AAA batteries while the controller needs 2 AA batteries.I spent a lot of time getting the batteries before getting the mouse running. And it's hard to control....I was intending to give less stars for this however my cat LOVEs it. Well so here you go the 4 stars

Poor quality and battery eater....
Cat Broke it within 2 hours. eats through batteries like crazy went through 2 sets in 2 hours...wasn't constant play either. If you have carpet do not buy this! I have hardwood but it would get stuck and entangled on a floor rug

Neat toy, but disappointed at damage.
I received this mouse very quickly in the mail, sooner than my expected date, which surprised me! However, when it arrived it was cracked under the mouse where the batteries go. It's also very loud on hardwood floors which scares the cat.
