Great 90" group . Smooth

There is no question that these days, it has been hard to listen to real R&B music, whereas the case with so many artists being more into rap and hip hop music that is more about being trash that really is more about showing off and being offensive to others. But back in the 90's, there has been few male R&B groups that definitely have shown that through the test of time, in a era where voices really meant something from the heart. Boyz II Men really was one of the very few male R&B groups that delivered with the success and continuation of Motown music that was watered away in the 80's. They delivered not only great songs to call their own, but the heart of the matter is that the songs they have had still sound much better than the wasted music of today that really doesn't deliver in stride the way it used to. There have been so many hits records of Boyz II Men in the past, and now with the anticipation of their upcoming album Collide, many should go back and listen to what made Boyz II Men so remarkable in the first place.Boyz II Men: Icon is simple reflection of what made the one time quartet so successful in the 90's in the first place. The collection cuts it down to the heart of the matter in their biggest songs from the 3 albums they had made back in the 90's, II, Cooleyhighharmony, and Evolution. The collection mainly is similar to their 2000 Legacy hits compilation which includes a lot of great songs like I'll Make Love To You, the classic Motownphilly, On Bended Knee, and 4 Seasons Of Loneliness. The songs have all been remastered nicely, but there could've been a bit more to offer here. There could've been songs that have been featured on this album that have been on other hits albums from Boyz II Men like One Sweet Day which they had done with Mariah Carey, Thank You and Thank You In Advance from Nathan Michael, Shawn, Wanya to just name a few.All in all, what you do get from Icon: Boyz II Men is similar to what you have gotten from their Legacy hits record. It just doesn't actually separate itself from other compilations of the one-time quartet's legacy. Still, it is a firm hits album that does deliver nicely for any new Boyz II Men fans, but could've been more for hard core Boyz II Men fans, and remains too similar to past hits records.
