Great confidence in Renaissance Wax
I'm fairly new to this product for I've used other unforgiving products for refinishing wood stocks. I'm very pleased with the ease of application and results. Based on initial application, found it applies and removes very easily. It is also much easier to remove from checkering w/ toothbrush or preferably a soft horsehair brush... remarkably, a low luster sheen revealed within checkering. Based on Renaissance Wax long history, finish will never yellow. I'm confident it also perfectly protects ferrous metal finish for it is PH neutral. It provides plenty of working time and ease to remove and buff!

Cool Wax
I modified some old brass lights and gave them some forced patina, I wasn't exactly sure what I should do to protect the surface after, clear coat? Oil? Wax? I stumbled upon this Ren wax after some online searching, but was skeptical about its effectiveness for my application. I came here to say I am more than pleased with the results, it darkened the colors a bit, and removed the "dry" look from the patina, while still leaving the mottled tarnished bluish coloring. The lights are on the ceiling of an outdoor patio, so time will tell how well this stuff protects. I know it's meant more for indoor items but I figured it couldn't hurt to try. I was also worried such a small amount would not be enough; turns out I barely made a dent in the container, I now have plenty more to try on other projects!

Used by museums and conservationists around the world...and me
Renaissance Wax was originally developed for the British Museum in London to revitalize and protect their antiques and artifacts. It's a microcrystalline wax that is acquired as a part of the petroleum refinery process. Fortunately, it's also available for regular home use to guard our own valuable possessions from the damaging effects of humidity, heat, dust, environmental destruction, aging and ordinary wear. With its high moisture resistance, it forms a barrier against the above mentioned threats while forming a durable, lustrous finish. It can be used on wood, metal, leather, stone, and many other finished surfaces. Renaissance Wax leaves no sticky surface and also doesn't take fingerprints as easily as many other waxes. I also love that it doesn't stain or discolor over time. While I have used it on several of our more valuable antiques pieces, I primarily use it as a protective finish for metal work (both jewelry and other artistic works) as well as a wax coating for some oil paintings. NOTE: If you're using it as a final finish for oil paintings, the paint should have at least 6-9 months to dry (longer if thick impasto) and it should have a finished coat of varnish applied/cured prior to wax application. On jewelry and other metalwork, it prevents tarnish and corrosion. On older pieces, it first cleans by lifting dirt and remnants of other waxes leaving the surface with a thin, hard protective film. It's wonderful on shiny metal finishes such as drawer pulls and helps them to maintain their shine and not oxidize. Conversely, on those metal pieces that have been oxidized with a beautiful patina (either naturally or artificially), this wax protects that appearance to prevent the look from altering. Just so some of you don't get a big surprise when you order this and it arrives, that's not a typo on the product page...this Renaissance Wax comes in a tiny 2.25 oz. container. So, yes, it IS expensive...but I feel that it's worth paying the extra for something that works so well and is used by museums around the world. The only downside is the smell, but that gradually begins to disappear about 24 hours after application.

Renaissance Wax is easy to use and really works.
I have been using Renaissance Wax for years and it is quite versatile. I use it on my blued firearms and it protects them from corrosion and makes them look amazing. I also use it after polishing silver to keep it protected much longer. A little goes a long way so even this small container can last a very long time.
