Kenny Ball - Greatest Hits

Surprise selections from the man who brought the Carnival March to Moscow.

I have yet to hear any other trad jazz albums/artists with such a tight sound. Nothing sloppy going on, on this album. Feel free to recommend some to me in the comments because even though I still reach for this one when I need to hear a skilled frontline, I need more!I could do without When I'm 64 or I Wanna Be Like You, but the rest of it is delightful.

The only reason I did not give this CD 5 stars is that I only wanted a few songs and don't know how to buy and download two or thee songs. This album contains some vocals and I prefer instrumentals.

Yes, this is a great CD, love all the songs, really takes you back to some amazing music !!!!

Great Product

All the hit singles in order (with a few more added.) I wanted a nice Kenny Ball compilation and can't see anything bettering this (though I got another as well called The Collection - see my reviews for that - cheap to give me even more tracks) and the sound quality here is superb. I should mention that this is mostly stereo from the start as some may be wondering about that... stereo or mono was fine with me though.

I'm not a jazz fan but this is probably not for the purist either. If you like a light hearted approach to the genre though this is for you.

I bought this for an unusual reason. I have been researching the family tree and found my wife was a distant relation of Kenny Ball. There had been talk in the family of a possible relationship for years and I finally tracked it down. I am not particularly musical but the thought of listening to an artist who was a distant relation made this an obvious buy. I enjoyed it very much indeed - a good selection which I can listen to right through or have as background music in the car.
