This large plate/platter is 10 inches in diameter, made from white stoneware and fired to cone 5. It is perfect for a holiday or hostess gift. It is striking on display but it was made to be used for special occasions. I made this plate by hand using a lace doily. I love the texture and complexity of doilies, but don't use them around the house. By incorporating doilies into my work, I not only preserve their beauty in clay, I can share them with others. I glazed this plate bright blue and wiped it gently to expose the texture of the doily. Pictures 2 & 3 shows the detail of the doily texture. I love this glaze. It worked well with this piece. It is safe for eating and the dishwasher, but I would wash it by hand. Please contact me for shipping out side the US.
