Included in this kit are 5 of the most common stains used in the staining of bacteria to be used on microscope slides. Each stain has its own specific use, though in some cases they are used in conjunction with one of the other stains in the kit. Every bottle of reagent contains 30mL of stain, and comes with their own SDS/MSDS sheet. The five stains included in the general bacteria stain kit are: Methylene Blue Loefflers Solution - Used for the presumptive identification of Corynebacterium diphtheriae, as well as an adjunct to Gram stain. Methylene Blue, Saturated Solution - A general staining dye Crystal Violet - For use in identifying Gram-positive bacteria, and stains them a dark blue/violet Carbol Rose Bengal Solution - Stains cells whenever their surface epithelium is not being properly protected by the preocular tear film Carbol Fuschin Solution (Zhiel-Neelsen) Commonly used to stain mycobacteria - Used in Zhiel-Neelsen to detect acid fast bacteria, which retains the initial red color of the dye, due to resistance to destaining with acid alcohol. This chemical is for laboratory use only, and is not intended for food, drug, or cosmetic use. It should be kept out of the reach of children. Each bottle of our reagents come standard with a copy of an SDS sheet (an updated version of the discontinued MSDS sheet). If you require a copy of this prior to purchase, please contact us.
