Arbiter Backflow Mako MK5 Digital 5-Valve Backflow Test Kit with Hoses & Soft Case

I was on the line about buying this meter. Im glad i did end up getting it. Here are a few things.For the price, its just about the same price as manual meter. I even called the company its self to ask a few questions about the meter before buying. The man i spoke to answered all my questions and more. I ended up purchasing the meter the same day from amazon as i receive 5% off. When my package had arrived there was a personal note from this man thanking me for the purchase and some extra goodies such as gloves, drain tubes and 3 quick connections costing nearly 100$.On with the unboxing and use of the meter. After unboxing and connecting the meter to my phone thru an app, i took it outside to my own backflow to test it.Setup was easy and using the meter was straight forrward, capturing the values were the best part of it. My only gripe is that you have to be quick on your feet to grab 1 of the values as it drops and changes quick. I wish the refresh rate was quicker so that it didnt chsnge so quickly. I have not timed it but i believe the values change once a second so it can drop to quickly resulting in missing the value where the air inlet opens.My last gripe is the app. I did not know the app costed per backflow tested. If you just buy a few tickets at a time its around 3$ per report. If you buy the 100$ bulk pack you get about 100 reports. Which is around 1$ each. In my opinion its a little much. I choose not to use the app for this reason as i just log into my areas reporting site and do it that way right on site. Again some people may find this service worth it but its just as easy to input the info right on the citys website for me.Overall ive tested about 260 backflows this year with this meter and it has worked flawlessly. I would buy it again.

Worst device, it’s bulky, it’s heavy, it’s done cheap. I purchased this device because I heard great things at a course I took. I took it out on the field for the day. Quickly notice that it’s a heavy guy. The soft casing doesn’t protect the device at all. And how can you store the hose? Bad design. Now the only cool thing is you could save your values. The hose it comes with feels cheap. And they cheaper out by not coming with a hard case to store your adapter and fittings. SMH, the screen does have backlight. I wanted to try a digital gauge. Not for me. Application is not recongnized in all water districts .

Got to check these out at my class. Distributor brought some in and looks very ideal. Maybe one day I get to buy a set.-Michael
