Best material I've printed with yet
This is absolutely my favorite filament to print with so far. I think the other reviews pretty much cover it, but I had to add my voice to the crowd. The matte black surface is gorgeous. I'm pretty new to 3D printing, but I bought a lot of filaments to experiment with, especially non-standard ones like carbon fiber, wood, and bronze fill. I have yet to use a material with a comparable/better surfce quality. I've been printing at 200C/0.1mm layer height and the texture of the carbon fiber seems to hide the layer lines on the side of the printed object so you can barely tell they're there, especially on more complex outer surfaces. And it really is easy to print with, as easy or even easier than other PLA I've used. The filament is quite brittle as other reviewers have mentioned, so careful when loading -- I haven't had any trouble, though. But the rigidity is an aspect of this material -- when printed, it's surprisingly strong. I printed a 150mm x 50mm x 10mm bar with 60% infill (I included a picture of it being printed), and I couldn't even bend it slightly with most of my strength. I also really like the spool itself (looks just like in the product image). Proto-pasta just has a cool sense of style overall, from the unique materials to the code in the background on the spool. I've already run through my first spool, and I've ordered another as well as some other interesting materials from them. Overall, I would recommend anyone to buy this. It's definitely worth the price.

Printed well using PLA settings.
Good material. Printed well on a Makerbot Replicator 2 at 230 degrees with unheated bed and blue painters tape. A little hairspray on the bed improved adherence. The filament is indeed stiff and a bit brittle, requiring some care when feeding it into the nozzle, but this was not serious problem. Print resolution was great, and the final product very stiff, strong and no warping, with a nice carbon fiber sheen. Definitely store unused filament in a desiccator box - it will pick up moisture and affect printing.

Got sent an out of spec Spool 1.9, not 1.75
It prints great IF the spool is within spec, mine worked great for doing test prints to get it dialed in, then it kept popping the bowden tube out. After ruining 2 Capricorn tubes i checked the filament size, the first spot was 1.87 next spot was 1.9, not one spot withing a foot was under 1.82. So yeah no wonder it kept pushing the tube out. Absolute waste of money.

Perfect!
This is the best filament that I have used with my 3D printer. Awesome strength and very nice matte black look when you get the finished product. I am printing on a PowerSpec 3D Pro, which is basically a 2nd generation Makerbot. I set my bed heat to 90c and had found that the best temp to print at was 220c, which is on the high end. I have basic painters tape on the bed. I did try a print without heating the bed and it was a disaster - I know that PLA does not require a heated bed. I used simplify 3D software. The only downside is that I think it is a bit harder to remove the raft from the bottom with the carbon fiber PLA that with regular PLA. Still - great job to the guys at Proto-Pasta, this is an amazing product and I have already ordered more. Do not let the high price scare you away - You get what you pay for!!

Awesome, but expensive filament
I purchased this to print parts for my 3D printer (Meta - I know), and I have to say that the prints turned out way better than I expected. The pictures show a part I printed with a 0.6 mm nozzle at 0.2 mm layer height with the nozzle at 215 C and the bed at 60C. Regular washable glue (Elmer's, Amazon Basics white glue, etc) provided more than enough adhesion to my glass bed. The top and bottom layers were butter smooth and the layer lines all but disappeared due to the matte/shiny fleck appearance of the filament after it cooled. I like that it prints with the standard PLA profile on my CR-10 with no warping or outer dimension shrinkage and that it's more rigid than PETG (though I still have to experiment with its load bearing capabilities). My only negative point is the price. 500 g of this Carbon Fiber PLA costs more than a 1 Kg spool of regular Hatchbox PLA, making this an expensive hobby. I'm not going to waste it on calibration cubes or benchies!

Very Difficult to Print
Updated review: Got it working. And it works great! Unlike the manufacturers recommendation, the temperatures require PET heat settings. 230 Nozzle and 85 Bed. Also, slow the print to 70% - seems to need to work a little slower. Will purchase again. First Review: First of all - vendor was fantastic. This is not a review on the vendor but the product. I've gone crazy trying to figure out how to make this work - I've even bought the Olson Ruby tip specifically for this material. I'm printing with a Prusa MK3, so I know its not the machine. First layers set well but immediatly begins to thin out and layers remain inconsistent, brittle. Also, the information on this material is scarce from Protopasta - they say to print at standard PLA temps. Have a feeling material is highly hydrophobic - but again - little information on actual troubleshooting this material from vendor. Have moved on to NylonX, which seems to have an abundance of documentation

It's a different experience
***** Update 2016//12/15 ****** I did a few test prints and these seem to be the best temperature and extrusion settings. Temperature: 190C-200C give the best surface finishes. 210C+ (I tested up to 235C) started to have rougher, bubbly surface finish. 190C did not have very good layer-to-layer adhesion. 200C had very good adhesion. Extrusion: 0.95-1.05 range tested. It does seem 1.00 extrusion ratio seem to be the best setting, which is usually the default anyway. The range between 0.98-1.02 seem good to acceptable ranges. Surface finish seem to degrade equally outside this range. I still like this filament very much, but it's still pretty expensive. ************************************ This is my first carbon fiber PLA, and I was quite surprised at the final quality of this filament, and perhaps other carbon fiber filaments as well, but I'll start with this one. I wanted to try this filament out because I needed something more pliable than PLA, but not as stiffer and easier to print than ABS. Well, this is it. After seeing a bunch of videos on carbon fiber filament, I decided to try it out. There's not much more to say than anyone else has said, just that it's a whole different experience. First off, I'm use to buying 2lb (1kg) spools of filament and this filament seemed CHEAP! Ok, when it arrived, the roll was light and turned out to be half that, which makes this filament really expensive, almost twice as expensive as the average filament out there. I also purchases a stainless steel nozzle for it, since it MIGHT be hard on the nozzles. However, it seems to print fine with a 0.4mm nozzle but as far as wear and tear, let's see how it goes. I have a 0.5mm nozzle I'll be trying after a few more parts. The filament is very brittle and if you have any feeding issues, the filament will snap. This filament likes to be feed as directly through the extruder as possible, I have a Makerbot which makes the filament twist about 3-4 times before entering the extruder. My machine isn't set up that way. My filaments are all held externally so it's pretty much a straight shot through the extruder. Just a note for Makerbot owners. Unless other carbon fiber filaments aren't as good as this, due to price alone, I don't think I'll be buying this filament anymore.

Cool Flat Black in color and crazy strong
I was skeptical at first because this stuff seems a bit brittle off of the roll but once it's extruded, it's solid as a rock. This is the by far the best filament I've printed with. I'm not one of those dudes that has printed with a thousand different types of filament. I'm more interested in functional parts as opposed to exotic designs. I needed something strong and functional. This does both plus it's finish looks like a flat black textured surface. What really surprised me is how amazingly smooth my prints came out with this. I'm talking zero flaws and it blends together really well between layers so stuff doesn't even look like it's 3D Printed.
