Boyz II Men at its finest
I'm just glad that they've released another album. I didnt know whether this was going to happen or not. I have heard some of the original songs on BIIMen's Throwback cd. But even with that they do a fine job of covering and making there own some classic songs. I remember "Let It Whip" back in the day and it is cool that they decided to that song on this cd. also "What You Won't Do For Love" featuring MC Lyte it is hot and i dont care what others say about this CD. Because i know i've been down with BIIMen since there first CD. Also other favs on this cd "Human Nature" with Claudette Ortiz from City High. Its all that, the background, lead vocals and everything. They do a great job on this song as well. There are various other songs that i know folks already enjoyed back in the day. So just look at it as Boyz II Men paying homage to some classic songs and doing it up the right way. Big ups to them on starting their own label and best wishes to Mike McCrary. We'll miss ya man.Looking forward to that next Boyz II Men project. So dont look at all these negative review talking about being fans of BIIMen. But still bashing this CD and not understanding where its coming from. Its just good music.I love the cd and will continue to love it and being a fan of Boyz II Men."Throwback" in the house and rocking it the crazy route!!

an enjoyable CD of cover songs
Boyz II Men are back with an excellent album of cover songs from the 70's and 80's. I really miss Michael Mc Cary's deep sexy voice, but this is a good CD even without him. The first single is You Make Me Feel Brand New. This is a very romantic song and one of my favorites Boyz II Men sound so smooth performing this song I love the trio's rendition of the song Let It Whip. It has a new dance sound that will appeal to a lot of listeners both young and old. I also enjoyed the song Close The Door. This song would have been perfect for Michael's McCary deep rich voice, but Nathan sounds nice and so smooth on his lead vocals here. This is a great song to relax and unwind to at the end of the day. Some of my other favorites on this CD is the a cappella version of the Debarge classic Time Will Reveal. Shawn Stockman has a very high and pleasant singing voice, and I think he sounds great performing lead vocals on this song. Boyz II Men harmonize so well and sound great on the song Let's Stay Together. The Boyz sing this classic track with a slick updated R and B sound that is just superb. The Boyz take a good song like Human Nature, and they do it even better. Their voices sound so pretty and mellow together on this track.Throwback is such an enjoyable album to listen to. If you grew up in the 70s and 80s like I did, you will enjoy listening to these songs again being performed by one of the most talented R and B groups ever. Boyz II Men are back!

Are you back if you make a cover album?
Hurry up with a new album of original material. It's clear that, since they know that they are not going to sell to the bubble gum generation, they decided to take it back. Now, that works somewhat in some places and not well in others. I love Boyz II Men, and their albums ranged from good to classic:Cooleyhighharmony-1991-Good, 3.5 out of 5Christmas Interpretations--1993--The best Christmas of all time, 4.5 out of 5II--1994, Quite possibly one of the 10 greatest R&B albums of all time.--5 out of 5The Remix Album--1995--as remix albums go, it was good, but the boyz didn't want to release it. This was the beginning of the fallout with Motown. 3 out of 5Evolution--1997--two words why everyone hates this album: Puff Daddy. He ruined this album with his track and then they had one right after it that had virtually the same name. Girl in the Life Magazine and A Song for Mama were too elementary in terms of lyrics. 3.5 out of 5Nathan Michael Shawn Wanya--2000--this album was actually very good, but the first song sounds like Ginuwine should have sung it and the last song, Do you Remember makes no sense. The best songs are I Finally Know, Know What You Want, Thank You in Advance, and Step on Up...Pass You By is good. Dreams is one of the better songs I've ever heard. 4/5Legacy--2001--the last Boyz album to get a gold...4.5/5Full Circle--2002--The color of love was too sappy of a song...and Ain't a Thang Wrong ruins the vibe...the rest of the album is Outstanding. 4/5Now comes 2004 and Throwback Volume 1.Once again, the singing is impeccable on the album. I thought that some of the songs that the boyz selected were a little strange, but hey...Once again, though, they made the same mistake that they have made since Evolution (With Full Circle and NMSW): THEY EMPLOY A FOUL-MOUTHED RAPPER. This KILLS the vibe, and like Full Circle, it kills it EARLY. "Let it Whip" and "Let's Stay Together" sound great in the beginning. In fact, "Let it Whip" should have been a single because it is by far the catchiest tune. However, the third song, "What You Won't Do for Love", is made horrible by the nasty rap by MC Lyte (How old is she anyway? 40? Rapping about swallowing and nuts?). Cutie Pie is ok...it's kind of like Lonely Heart on their first album...you kind of listen to it passing on the the next song. "Close the Door" is very good, but only Nathan seems to get that this is a SOULFUL song...The next outstanding track is "For the Love of You". Nathan and Shawn really carry this one. The unexpected gems on this CD are actually tracks 7 and 9. Sara Smile is beautiful and fits BIIM perfectly, while Time Will Reveal reminds me greatly of "I Do" from NMSW. The remake of "Human Nature" is so-so. "I miss you" is very good, but not great. The last song, "You Make Me Feel Brand New", well it's a great closing.Overall, the low point was MC Lyte's appearance. This may be the first album where Nathan outsings the other two, but it's not so much because they fell off; this is clearly Nate's best work. Wanya was much more controlled on this CD, but I think it is because he can't riff on these particular songs as much as he normally does. The songs that are so-so are that way only because they just don't seem to fit Boyz II Men. It may have been a better idea to release half new material and half remakes. Overall, after a few listens, you are left wanting more Boyz II Men the group and not Boyz II Men the cover artists.A satisfying listen. 4 stars. But are they really back? And is it the best idea to make covers when you have to carve out a new identity without Mike? Stay tuned to this group.Sal Alexander, Esquire

Silly copy protection
I rip all my CDs to put on my iPod so I was very unpleasantly surprised to find this CD had the MediaMax copy protection. Google "MediaMax" and you'll find instructions on how to defeat this silly copy protection (it's very simple). As for the music, the Boyz once again show off their immaculate voices and don't seem to miss the services of Mike "Bass" McCary. However, the musical arrangements don't quite measure up to the fine vocal performances. While their faithful interpretation of "Close The Door" overcomes the overuse of synthesizers, "Let's Stay Together" doesn't do it for me. Definitely a mixed bag.

しかし、CCCD(コピーコントロールCD)付だとは思わなかった。先行発売されている国内盤だけだと思っていましたよ・・。プレーヤーの条件では再生できない物があると思うので購入を考えている方は1度ご確認願います。
