Nano - FreeTel Data SIM for Japan

I bought two of these and they both worked fine. Installation and setup on iPhone was quick and simple. One interesting observation: on one iPhone we were able to turn on the hotspot mode and share the data access -- on the other iPhone, it wouldn't allow hotspot mode. I don't know if this was restricted by the SIM or if there was some setting in the iPhone that we missed. We also found that open wifi access points are extensively available now in Japan, especially in the cities. Remote areas and small towns had few open access points. Most subway stations and JR stations had open access. The bullet trains did not have open access.Three members of our group did not get the data SIM and used only open wifi access points. They had no problem finding one when needed. This is quite different from my last visit about 6 years ago when almost no open access points could be found.Using data access only, WhatsApp, Ooma Mobile, GoogleVoice, Facebook Messenger, and Viber all worked great for keeping us in touch with each other and with folks back in the USA.If you don't buy a data SIM in advance, you can find them readily available at Narita Airport and at the electronics shopping district at Akihabara in Tokyo.

Overall worked very well on an unlocked iphone 6 from verizon (E2816-A). Used in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Kanazawa, Hiroshima, and Miyaima, and didn't notice any huge speed variation across the country. Was sometimes a bit slow loading photos on facebook or instagram, but never to a problematic extent. One thing to note is that facebook did count against the data usage, unlike what is claimed. So keep that in mind before you use up a lot of data on facebook browsing.You can track your data usage on your iphone (settings>cellular, scroll down to bottom and reset statistics once you put in the SIM). Freetel also has a website where you can track the remaining data by putting in the information on the package.

I have the international galaxy s7 (dual) and T-mobile service that can support international roaming in Japan. I ordered two SIM cards: Micro and Nano -- one for wifey and one for myself -- thinking to get a faster speed. They were not worth for the price because of slow speed and unreliable network service. It was very slow network (throttled?) and often timed out. At most the speed was 1.5 Mbps (mega-bits per second), and most instances were at 0.15 Mbps. One time in I did see 14.08 Mbps but very short live in Osaka, Japan. Sometimes it would takes up to half a second to make a connection (ping) to a website or google. Wifey was not happy and ended up using T-mobile which was throttled at 128 kbps but very reliable and fast. Near the end of our two weeks in Japan, I switched back to T-mobile as well.

You do need to connect to wifi to activate it. I'm not sure if you can do it prior to departing your home country or if you need to wait until you arrive in Japan. Most airports have decent free wifi now though, so I don't see this being a problem. The speeds on the sim card were very fast, and the reception was better than the portable wifi I was useing on the Y! network. My phone showed being connected to Docomo network. As for "free data" on social networking apps featured on the packaging, I wouldn't know because I don't use those much.

Worked perfectly for me while I was in Japan. No problems. Easy to set up with easy to follow instructions for set up. The speed was fast enough to web browse, check maps, use social media apps, etc. The speed was okay to watch videos but occasionally I would have to wait for the buffer to catch up to downloading the video. So convenient you can order prior to your trip to Japan, take it with you in your backpack, when you land you can activate it at the airport using the airport's free wifi, no need to hassle with going up to the airport counters to buy outrageously overpriced data SIMs. I would definitely buy this again for my next trip to Japan.

Ich war vor ein Paar Wochen in Japan und habe im Vorfeld die SIM Karte von freute gekauft, die es in Japan selbst überall günstiger zu haben gibt. Der Vorteil bei der Bestellung über Amazon ist, dass man hier eine deutsche/englische Anleitung dazubekommt und das man direkt bei Ankunft die Karte verwenden kann.Die Einstellung im Handy ist zwar in wenigen Minuten erledigt (Huawei P8 Lite mit Android), jedoch hatte ich zeitweise gar keinen Empfang, während meine Freunde normal surfen konnten (Referenzgeräte: IPhone 6 und Windows Phone). Daher hier die zwei Sterne Abzug.Sonst ist die Karte super, alle bekannten Social Media Apps wie Whats App, Facebook und Twitter gehen hier nicht aufs Datenvolumen, was die 2 GB mehr als ausreichend für einen 2-3 Wochen Trip in Japan machen.

Mientras duran los 2 GB todo funciona perfectamente. Una vez agotados (no hay aviso alguno) no puedes utilizar ninguna red social a alta velocidad. Al menos la conexión sigue funcionando, pero no era lo que esperaba. Teníamos 4 SIMS y pasó lo mismo con todas...

Fair price for a 2GB SIM and one month use for my iPhone 5S. Good coverage of 4G signal in most places, even 3G was good in remote and rural areas of Shikoku. The settings for APN were easy and the phone was ready in a couple of minutes. NTT DOCOMO was the operator during my 3 weeks of use. I wouldn't hesitate to repurchasing if were needed.

海外から日本に一時帰国する時に活躍してます。LINEやFacebookなどはフリーで使えるのが便利ですね。設定も他社より簡単でSIMを取り出すピンも付属してるのが嬉しいです。

接続が簡単にできました。たまにネットが遅い時などもありましたが、総合的には良かったです。

出張で中国から日本にきました。iphone 6sで完全に問題なく使えてよかったです。けど、30日の制限はほしくないです…なぜなら30日以内に2GB使い切れないからです。

iPhoneでうまく接続できました。事前にアプリを入れて置く必要があります。

ASUSのZenfoneシムフリー携帯では使用不可。無反応でした。

一時帰国に合わせて購入とにかく便利です。携帯番号がないのでこれをシムフリーのiPhoneにさして使ってます。お勧めします

やっぱりLineが無料で使えるのはありがたいですね。次回日本に帰国した際も購入するつもりです。
