Sun Mate Lotion Applicator

I love this product.A lotion spreader has a tendency to get messy with accumulated cream. Before I found this product, I bought one with a long sturdy handle. It worked great but I had to hang up between uses to keep it from picking up dirty and debris AND to keep it from soiling everything with any lotion that might be lurking on the product. Since I don’t like things like this hanging around, and cluttering everything, I was glad when I found this folding model.This product does a great job of spreading the lotion, and you can fold it tidily away into a draw until the next time. With this applicator it is easy to get a nice and even application, even with thick cream. You will see from the photo that I sometimes use Calazime, a lotion that is almost the consistency of old-fashioned toothpaste. The problem is the applicator breaks easily unless the handle is reinforced in some way. One of the problems is the hinge will snap with too much pressure. It is for this reason that I do not give it a five.There is a way to fix the handle so that it will withstand more pressure. You need duct tape and a slim piece of wood that is about 1”x6”. A six-inch flat wood ruler works well. Place the ruler so the approximately half of the length is on each side of the hinge. Add tape only to the applicator pad side (not to the part of the handle that folds over the applicator pad). This way you can still fold the applicator.

This is my third applicator. I keep one in my bedroom and one in my bathroom for lotion application. I also keep one in my beach bag for applying suntan lotion. It gets the hard to reach spots especially on my back. I have vertigo so it helps to get my legs and feet on those days that I can not bend over. They are easy to clean with soap and water. As with anything that gets much use out of them, the sponges have to be replace. If there was only the sponge replacements for the applicator that would give this product 5 stars. I would not have to throw out a applicator that is in good shape, reason for my 4. I hate to waste.

I bought this to keep in my work travel toiletry bag and unfortunately, it's just too flimsy for repeated use. It's a great idea, but the design has a really delicate hinge that holds the "handle" side and "spreader" together that snapped the 3rd time I used it.. Even though I recognized how careful I needed to be and used the tiniest amount of pressure possible to spread body lotion..it did not hold up.The other element worth mentioning is that it has a bunch of little nook and crannies around the pad and hinge that the lotion gets into which makes it messy to put back in a bag after use.. So you either have to store it all goopy or scrub it out with hot water so it's too wet to return to a bag of other toiletry items -- it really needs a case.. I stored mine in a ziploc bag for the short time I had it

Had one of these once before but couldn't find it. This one is an overpriced but useful item. Works pretty well and allows you to apply lotion to those those places on your back. folds flat for easy storage in your bag.

I applied some of my  Bull Frog Water Armor Sport Quik Gel Sunscreen, SPF 50 5 fl oz (147 ml)  to my back where I have trouble reaching. It went on smoothly as expected. I also used it to apply the same sunscreen around the leg holes of my bikini bottom. I used my hands to do my front and sides.Guess where I got burned? The part where I used my hands!From then on, I used this applicator to apply sunscreen even to the parts that I can reach with my hands. So much more even coverage!

This is a good deal, with 3 in the package. I often have back pain and use products like bio freeze gel to relieve it. These work really well for getting the gel to the middle of my back. Plus they are very light weight and the fact that they fold up is nice for travel.

I ordered this for my sister to apply medication to her back. I t is working out okay, but not great.

It is useful however, little hard to clean.
